We usually don’t get too excited about fiberglass specials, but when we find a LaDawri we get excited. We featured a 1959 LaDawri Daytona project car about a month ago. This one is currently located in South Butler New York and is listed on eBay with a current bid of $1,080 and could end up be a much better deal.
This car was also listed on the Finger Lakes, NY craigslist, where the seller was asking $1,500. We hope this is the same seller. Obviously this car is going to need a complete restoration, but at $1,500, this car is a bargain. We can’t tell for sure whether this really is a Daytona or one of its smaller siblings, such as the Sebring or Del Mar. The grill opening seems too large and the body too short to be a Daytona, but it could just be the photos. If any of you can confirm which model this is please comment and let everyone know.
The interior is missing most of the pieces, but thankfully these cars had very simple interiors. It appears that the hard to find pieces are all present, but there are lots of pieces that are going to have to be sourced. This car is a fiberglass body sitting on an MG chassis; this means the body is rust free. But from the looks of it the body is going to need some work and a new gel coat.
This car is going to take some work to get it back on the road, but thankfully it rides on a very common MG chassis with a Triumph engine powering it. We would think the easiest way to get this back on the road would be to find a complete and rust free MG chassis to sit the body on. We really like the lines of this car, especially with the hardtop in place. We hope someone brings this beauty back to life.
