This Corvette was found at an estate sale. Supposedly the car has been off the road for the past 18 years. Beyond that, we don’t know much about the car’s past but it might be a good buy if bidding doesn’t go much higher. It’s located in Leicester, Massachusetts, and is listed here on eBay with no reserve. Better hurry though because the auction is ending soon!
The first order of business once you get this Corvette back to your shop will be to go through the brakes. The seller mentions that the engine runs but the brake pedal goes straight to the floor. Then you’ll want to start thinking about how to repair the rust underneath. Hopefully, it can be patched up without replacing the whole frame.
The big question here is: what engine is that? In 1968 you could order your Corvette with either a 327 or 427 V8. But there were multiple power levels ranging from 300 all the way up to 435 horsepower! The seller doesn’t say anything about the engine but those center bolt valve covers make me think it has been swapped out for a newer small block.
This car was originally painted red. Color changes are normally a bummer but I personally like this color combo better. It would take a lot of money to return this car to factory spec so I’d probably just focus on the things that it needs to be a safe driver and then just enjoy the ride!
Looks like he went for a repaint and he decided he liked the primer better. Can’t say I blame him. Red on red is a terrible combo.
Looks like he changed a lot. Ignition is on column
The 68 Corvette was the last to have a dash mounted ignition switch. The ignition switch was column mounted beginning in 1969. The ignition switch should be on the speedo/tach bezel in the upper right had corner, that bezel has to be from a 69 up car I believe.
The only thing on this column is the 4 way flasher switch.
There is no ignition showing on column or dash, it is an ac car with no compressor and there are no fiber optics on center console.
Gone- seller said to keep your comments to yourself. Alrighty then, Hope someone got a good deal on this as it needs a ton of work frame and unknown how the birdcage is. Looks like a later 350 with the bolts in the middle of the valve covers. Good luck to the new owner. Stay safe.
Cheers

The frame rust looks to be extensive. With that, I’d worry about the birdcage and all other metal areas in the car.
Faded dash and carpet looks to me like this one spent lots of time out in the sun!! Small block with an automatic isn’t the most desirable corvette!! You know the old saying though there’s a butt for every seat!!
This seller gets bonus points for actually showing the frame rot on his C3 Corvette.
I wonder what a $500 frame repair looks like?
And it is no longer available.
