Located in Spokane, Washington, this 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a luxury four wheel drive that was produced by Jeep for 29 years. The Grand Wagoneer is for sale here on eBay with bids exceeding $10,000 and two days remaining in the auction. Now the FCA has released pictures of the prototype of the new 2021 Jeep Wagoneer, which one do you prefer? Is the new Grand Wagoneer faithful to the the looks, comfort and power of the original?
The Grand Wagoneer has always had a luxurious interior with rich comfortable 6 way power leather seats. The maroon interior on this example looks very tidy and no obvious signs of wear. The Grand Wagoneer is optioned with cruise control, power mirrors, tilt wheel, power locks, power windows and air conditioning. The odometer reflects 87,320 miles.
This luxury SUV is equipped with a 360 cubic inch V8 engine (5.9 liters) and a column shifted automatic transmission. Fuel mileage estimates in 1988 were about 10 mpg in town and 11 mpg on the highway. This four door beast had three rows, storage and capable towing capability. The Grand Wagoneer is said to run and drive well and the four wheel drive is in good working order.
Jeep built the Grand Wagoneer from 1962 to 1991, over which the Grand Wagoneer remained almost unchanged. It is one of the longest single generation vehicles produced in the United States. The seller states that this Grand Wagoneer does not have any rust and has not been in an accident over its long life in the Northwest. I have never been a fan of wood grain on the side of vehicles but I actually like it on the Grand Wagoneer.
I suppose it would be further away from me were it in Alaska or Hawaii. Oh well.
Looks pretty good, the underhood insulation would have originally been 3 seperate pieces, the fog lights are replacements also. The stereo would have been a Jeep Accusound by Jensen, the speakers had blue foam surrounds that would rot over the years; other companies had same problem.
If the internet is to be believed, Fiat’s ’21 GW is going to command six figures. While I am sure they’ll sell, this reader would take this one here, or an offering from Wagonmaster, all day long over what FCA is teasing. I didn’t see one styling queue from The Original on the ’21. Hey FCA: IMO, to this reader’s eye, you built a knock-off Lincoln or a GM-product. Way to fumble a real opportunity.
aaahahahaa – guess we Boomers R speakin up?
fergedahboudid – let’s join the 21st century…
Jeep should do a retro version of the grand Wagoneer for 2021 including the wood grain sides! I wouldn’t pay 6 figures for an Escalade wannabe.
fca needs to sell the jeep brand. they clearly are clueless
If this is worth $21,000 what would this 1968 model be worth?
It is just as nice inside and out.
