Squarebody trucks have been on a steady rise in popularity, and clean, usable examples continue to draw strong interest. This 1984 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4×4, currently listed on eBay with no reserve, looks like one of those trucks that’s meant to be driven and enjoyed rather than tucked away. Thanks for the tip, John!

Powered by a 350 V8 paired with an automatic transmission, this Silverado is described as a solid runner. The seller notes that the engine starts easily and runs well, while the transmission shifts through all gears as it should. For buyers looking for a truck they can use right away, that’s always an important starting point.

This is a 3/4-ton, four-wheel-drive model, which adds to its appeal for anyone wanting something more capable than a standard half-ton pickup. The seller mentions that the truck has a small lift, along with wheels and tires that reportedly have less than 3,000 miles on them. That combination typically gives these trucks a more purposeful stance while maintaining everyday usability.

Condition-wise, the truck is described as clean overall. The paint is said to be older but still presentable, and the body is noted as straight. The seller also highlights that there is no visible rust and that the rockers are particularly solid—something that can be a concern on trucks from this era.

Inside, the interior is reported to be in good shape, with no rips or tears in the upholstery. There are a couple of typical age-related notes, including a cracked dash and a missing headliner, but overall it sounds like a usable cabin that hasn’t been heavily worn out over time.

With just over 111,000 miles showing, this Silverado sits in a range where it has clearly been used but not pushed into extremely high mileage territory. The seller also emphasizes that the truck is fun to drive, which lines up with the appeal these squarebodies have built over the years.

Being offered at true no reserve adds another layer of interest here. Trucks like this tend to attract a wide range of bidders, from collectors looking for a solid example to buyers who simply want a dependable vintage 4×4 they can use regularly.

Between its 350 V8, 4×4 drivetrain, and overall described condition, this 1984 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 seems to check a lot of the right boxes for a classic truck that’s still ready to work or cruise.

Looks like the seat has been recovered. My in-laws had one that was exactly like this. The seat was a red cloth that matched the carpet and the dash. Their Silverado was fun to drive, and if this is anywhere close to that it will be also. GLWTS.
They butchered the AC. Oh well. Looks like the transfer case adapter housing is leaking, too. Needs some TLC.
Good looking Silverado. My biggest concern would be the lift kit. There seem to be different levels of quality not to mention workmanship. I guess it’s the same as any modification.
Lift kits for this generation of vehicles are simple in design and execution. It’s not like IFS systems. If there are any issues, it’s easy to fix.
I’m at a lose here. I see these letter combinations regularly.
Could someone please explain what (GLWTS) means?
Thanks
Good luck with the sale
looks like it had a 5th wheel, which means possibly heavy towing, i.e., hard on tranny/diff/transfer case. I was told eons ago be careful buying a tow vehicle.
That aside, good-lookin’ truck.
My Dad had 2/wd.,just like this back in the day, very dependiable truck’s kinda wish he still had it,but life goes on.
