Trailer queens will always attract their share of attention, and keeping any classic pristine is admirable. The seller is honest about this 1970 Corvette, declaring it doesn’t fit that category. It is an extremely tidy driver with an optional V8 providing performance to match its good looks. It recently underwent some work to ensure it is in mechanical good health, and all it needs is a new home. The seller has listed the ‘Vette here on Craigslist in Dix Hills, New York. It could be yours for $37,499, and I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder for spotting this gem.
The Corvette makes a stunning impression in Bridgehampton Blue. It is 1-of-11 shades offered by Chevrolet in 1970, and for my money, it is one of the best of all time. The seller states that a previous owner treated it to a repaint in the early 2000s, and it still presents well. A close inspection reveals minor marks and imperfections, but nothing requires attention if the new owner wishes to retain the vehicle as a driver-grade classic. There are no signs of fiberglass issues, and the listing suggests the frame and birdcage are structurally sound. The bumpers were recently replaced, as were the grille and light lenses. Everything sparkles like a new penny, while the glass looks flawless. The T-Top panels are perfect and can be stowed in their original bags when the driver wants that wind-in-the-hair experience.
The interior photo lacks clarity, but the positive impressions continue. It is upholstered in Black leather, and I can’t spot any significant signs of wear or other problems. The dash and gauges are excellent, although the carpet appears to feature some of the typical faded spots. A retro-style aftermarket stereo replaces the factory unit but is the only addition. The original owner passed on luxury features like air conditioning, but they ticked the box beside power windows.
Potential buyers will be pleased to learn this Corvette is a numbers-matching classic. The original owner sought respectable performance, teaming the optional L46 version of the 350ci V8 with a four-speed manual transmission. The seller describes the engine as rare, but with over 28% of buyers selecting it, the claim falls flat. This small-block should produce 350hp and 380 ft/lbs of torque. There wasn’t a genuinely slow version of the 1970 Corvette, but this one’s ability to scorch the ¼-mile in 14.1 seconds on the way to 142mph means it commanded respect when new. The seller states that the engine received a rebuild when the repaint occurred. It was built to correct L46 specifications, although roller rockers were added for improved reliability. It recently underwent a comprehensive refresh, with the motor pulled so the engine bay could be carefully and thoroughly detailed. The small-block received new seals, gaskets, and hoses. The carburetor was rebuilt, and a new oil pump and pan gasket were installed. It runs and drives perfectly and should be considered a turnkey proposition.
The seller rightly points out that values of early C3 Corvettes continue climbing, although the growth rate has recently slowed. Any classic beyond $30,000 is hard to classify as affordable, but cars like this Corvette could represent an excellent future investment if prices keep heading upwards. In the meantime, slipping behind the wheel and hitting the open road sounds like a perfect way to pass the time until the day arrives when you can cash in on your investment. Do you agree?
A little personal emotion involved in offer price..maybe if it was an AC car w/adjustable steering wheel, nice orig paint..nice car with middle of the road engine offering. Someone expecting another 5 years of inflation, may wish to jump in and buy now. I’ll wait and hope for better times in 2025.
Nice clean car. I would guess it will eventually sell for about $35k. Numbers matching 350hp small block, with a 4 speed means good fun and good resale value. Even though it is not fully optioned, this car could be a keeper as well as a good investment.
Not a trailer queen, but priced pretty close to one for a non-BB.
Kinda wonder if the personalized plate on the stingray in background of the last picture on the Craigslist post sez C2THEUSA? Not much on blue for a vehicle color but appears to be a very nice little driver. Good job!
