One Family Owned: 1975 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

Square Body pickups are very popular. This 1975 Chevrolet Silverado 1/2 ton pickup is located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is listed for sale here on eBay. It has 5 days remaining in the auction and has already been bid to $5,700. It is a no-reserve auction and the seller states that the truck has been owned by the same family since new. The truck has never been wrecked and appears pretty original.

The truck is powered by the original 350 cubic inch V8 engine that has some performance parts added to it including a high-rise aluminum intake manifold. The 350 cubic inch V8 engine in 1975 was designated the LF5 and was rated at 175 horsepower when equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor. The engine produced 275 lb-ft of torque and was produced from 1973-1986. The engine is dressed up with Edelbrock valve covers and chrome air cleaner. The engine has a new water pump, alternator, brakes, radiator, and tires in addition to the aluminum manifold. The engine is said to run well and not smoke, leak or knock.

The interior is what you would expect with an old unrestored truck. The dash has some cracks and the seat has a cover on it. The seller states the truck has 138,000 miles on it but the speedometer stopped working last year. A few of the other gauges are not working and the center horn cap is missing on the steering wheel. The radio is also missing and the heater switch is not functioning consistently.

Above is a list of the RPO codes and build sheet. You can see the truck was well-equipped with power steering, power brakes, tilt steering, and air conditioning.

The body looks solid and it is a Nevada vehicle so should be fairly rust-free. The paint is faded but the truck is still riding on its original rally wheels with aftermarket tires. The long wheelbase of the truck should provide a nice ride and this one can be driven while it is restored.

How does the radio wind up missing in a one-owner vehicle?

Replaced with an aftermarket unit at some point in the ’70s-’80s-’90s, when that was common, and the aftermarket unit either failed or was stolen (as often happened) and the owner didn’t bother replacing it?

Converted to serpentine belt. That had to be expensive.

That’s a factory serpentine system, cheap from a junk motor. I put one on my small block for $200 with new idlers and tensioner.

I love the looks of these old, two-tone pickups w/ the white roofs. The white makes sense to me anyways because I believe it keeps the interiors a little cooler than say… black.

With all that black, shaker can paint, I’m not sure the seller should say “No touch up paint or body filler”. It came from the factory as a two-tone and I’m counting at least three colors here. (Yeah, I know he’s trying to get across that there’s not touch up paint hiding Bondo, etc. but still.)

It does look like a nice truck w/ a good body… a paint job, radio and new seat cover would do wonders.

I had a ’73 which was a nice shade of primer brown when I acquired it. It had lots of rust and my girlfriend hated it I took her to a nice dinner in it once just to keep her humble. She was not impressed. Regardless, I bombed around in it for a while then sold it to a guy that wanted the engine and three-on-the-tree transmission, the shifting linkage of which I recall needing to “unstick” with a big screwdriver under the hood once in a while. I think I came close to breaking even on that one.
