One-Owner 1969 Buick Electra 225

It’s always fun to see a one-owner vehicle, especially one this old. This 1969 Buick Electra 225 is just that according to the seller. They have this gorgeous luxury car posted here on craigslist in Blaine, Washington, in the far northwestern part of the state right on the Canadian border and they’re asking $9,000 for this one. Thanks to MattR for sending in this tip! Here’s the original listing.

Other than that missing driver’s door trim, this car looks almost like it just rolled out of the showroom in 1969. There’s no mention of any bodywork, rust, or accidents but that front door gap looks a little off to me, or maybe it’s just a trick of light and shadow. Although, the door does appear to be just a hair darker than the surrounding paint. This really looks like a well-cared-for car in the photos. The third-generation Buick Electra 225 was made for the 1965 to 1970 model years and in 1968, the cars received a partial redesign and in 1969, a major redesign.

I owned a 1971 Buick Electra 225 about four decades ago that was like new even though it was a decade old. This car appears to be just as nice but it’s over five decades old already. Our friend, fellow car fanatic, race car driver, and all-around fantatsic human being, Adam Clarke, wrote about a similar-but-dusty Electra a month ago here. I grabbed a recent tip which turned out to be the same exact car, which I wrote about here. I’ll take this gorgeous blue car that’s running and driving and looking almost perfect over that one for much less money, how about you?

Sadly, the side vent windows went away with the 1969 redesign. I wish companies would bring that feature back again. I don’t believe that this car has the optional air-conditioning and the seats are vinyl even though the seller refers to them as “leather. The seats came in either vinyl or brocade cloth, I don’t believe that leather was even an option and this one doesn’t have the optional 60/40 split front bench. Despite not being a loaded model, this appears to be one nice, luxurious car and is no doubt very quiet and smooth on the road. The back seat area looks as perfect as you might expect.

The engine compartment would look great with two hours of detailing but it looks like an honest place to house the 430 cubic-inch V8 with 360 horsepower. This car rides great, has always been parked indoors, and it looks like an absolute home run to me. Hagerty is at $8,800 for a #3 good condition car and $14,600 for a #2 excellent car so it’s a couple of grand under where I would think it should be. Flipper alert! Would any of you daily drive this beauty?

If this car wasn’t on the other side of the country I’d be all over this. One of the best cars GM made. Whoever gets this car will have a real treat.

This car, in absolute beater form, is the featured ride in Sir Mix-A-Lot’s 1989 video for “My Hooptie”.

Dr. Benson was offered one as a rental on “ER”.
He was complaining and they they threw the keys at him, and hit him in the chest.
      Couldn’t find a link however.

Liked my 70 LeSabre HT much better. Lighter lines, if one could ever say that about any contempo Buick…

    I had two of these `69 225s.
A black 4 door in `77, and a dark green convertible with the same black vinyl as the above in `95.
You do not know hot, until you’ve experienced that…
A-frame bushings was the weak link.
Due to it’s massive weight shift during stopping over time.
The original 430 went bad in the convertible, and I found an earlier one from a Wildcat.
I swapped the oil pans, intake manifolds, and just kept plugging vacuum lines til in ran right.
Eventually sold it to a friend, who years later sold it to a neighbor who took it to Puerto Rico.
Where it probably still resides if it survived the floods.

we had the 68 but the vinyl top was black, and the interior matched the blue paint it’s a little weird to see the black interior – makes me wonder about the paint job – original or no? Black interior but white vinyl top? And the engine bay looks black except for the firewall. Great cars though.

I can see me cruising to Myrtle Beach and ENJOYING every mile of it . Get to North Myrtle Beach and just take in the sea air while cruising the strip. BUT only for a week, wouldnt want to stay longer then that and she gets a good scrubbing after that .

Beautiful car, but drive daily at today’s gas prices? You gotta be kidding! Here in eastern Ontario, as of this writing, our local gas price is $1.562 per litre. Converted to US dollars, that’s $4.67 a gallon. My ’65 Impala with its 283 will be expensive enough at 15 miles per gallon.

Working in a garage as a teenager, used to take little old lady’s home in cars like this, once I’d get around the block, you could smoke the right rear as long as you wanted

This thing is AWESOME! If I had room in the garage for this, I would be calling on it. Alas, my 1979 Cougar didn’t fit in the garage (a couple inches too long), so this won’t either.
