When Toyota unveiled the 1986½ Supra, it marked a major turning point for the model. The new Mark III body style was more refined, more advanced, and more powerful than anything before it. While many of these cars went on to rack up hundreds of thousands of miles or were modified beyond recognition, every so often a survivor shows up that reminds you what these cars were like when new. That’s exactly what we have here: an original-owner 1986½ Toyota Supra, listed here on craigslist in San Ramon, California.

This Supra was purchased new in November of 1986 and has remained with the same owner ever since. It shows just 109,000 miles, which is modest for a nearly 40-year-old Japanese GT. According to the seller, the interior is absolutely mint, with a clean dash, excellent seats, and gauges that all work properly. Even the variable suspension controls and transmission settings are still fully functional, which is impressive considering how often these features stop working on high-mile examples.

On the outside, the Supra wears its original metallic brown paint paired with a tan interior, a color combination that captures the era perfectly. The seller describes the body as straight, the tires as good, and notes that the car just passed smog with registration valid through April 2026. That means it’s ready to be enjoyed immediately without any major hurdles for a California buyer.

The drivetrain consists of an automatic transmission with overdrive, along with Toyota’s variable performance control. While enthusiasts often chase the manuals, the automatic setup makes this car a relaxed cruiser, ideal for highway driving or weekend trips. The seller also highlights that this Supra has been female-driven since new, another indication that it’s been treated carefully over its life.

Finding a one-owner Supra of this age is rare. Many have been thrashed, modified, or simply worn out, leaving clean survivors like this in short supply. Whether you’re a collector looking for originality or an enthusiast who simply wants a reliable, comfortable, and stylish GT car, this Supra checks a lot of boxes.

What do you think, would you keep this time-capsule Supra completely stock, or would you give in to the temptation of upgrades?

Gone…..
I puchases one of these in November 86. Pearl Red with gray leather. Great comfortable & stable road car. Mine had a 5 speed drove some with automatics, no comparison that big 6 sang with the 5 speed automatic not so much

It’s a beauty for sure. If only she had parted with the extra $$ and bought the turbo version…
Why does

happen so much with craigslist?
Are they all scams on craigs?
Sold?
Anybody know how much this Supra was listed for?
$29,995
Thanks. That’s insane for an NA version with an automatic. Not as bad as the Yugo I saw here for $45k. Lol. But almost.
