All hail the 1969 Chevy Camaro! Well, in this case, a beaten up, down on its’ luck, shell of its’ formal self with a V6. This epitome of 1960’s pony cars has seen much better days, and is looking for the right suitor. First available in 1967, the Chevrolet Camaro was a mid-sized pony that shared similarities with the Firebird, and was aimed to become Chevrolet’s star competitor to Fords’ Mustang. As a matter of a fact, when asked what the word even meant, the product managers described a “Camaro” as, “a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs.” This Camaro for sale will require one with seriously deep pockets to be able to restore it to its’ glory. Located in Great Mills, MD, bids are sitting low at $6,300, and you can see more here on eBay.com.
First generation Camaro’s are as highly sought after as just about any other car out there. Oddly, they are still hard to come by considering that GM sold over 243,000 units that year. Although this car is complete and unmodified, muscle heads will most likely want to swap out the V6 for something badder. You only need to see the very first picture in the listing to know that this would be a tremendous undertaking of a restoration. We’re talking complete from top to bottom, inside and out. Regardless, there is potential here, so long as someone has the dedication, passion, know-how, and financial backing.
The good: It’s original, complete, and has a clean title. On top of that, the seller states that the rockers, frame rails, and shock towers are all solid. And it’s a 1969 Camaro. That’s about where the good stops, as this car clearly needs attention everywhere. It really is a clean slate for the right person to make it whatever they want it to be. Information is lacking in the listing, but the pictures speak for themselves. With that said, let’s at least take a moment, and picture what this car “could” be. This portrait of American style and performance was an instant hit, and has retained its’ reputation since the very first unveiling. Collectors across the globe seek out such cars as this, granted it has the right options. It’s not uncommon coming across some Z28 and SS model’s fetching six figures. This body type is one of the most stylistic of the late 1960’s muscle cars, and has taken on countless television and movie roles. Regardless of being a base model, there’s just nothing like a first generation Camaro.
The 1969 Camaro is a true American icon, as many consider it to be the ultimate pony car. The low stance, squared off wheel wells, and angular look contributed to its’ hallmark style. While this model for sale here won’t be “eating Mustangs” anytime soon, the right person could certainly provide the Chevrolet gods some hope if they have the means to give it the attention it truly deserves.
Not to correct, but if anything, it’s packed with an I-6.
Amen…
Needs recycling.
I really doubt if the rails etc.are as solid as he says.
maybe he means solid rust ?
Maybe “low” is a relative concept these days but I do not consider $6,300 low for something like this!
Somebody needs to explain to you the difference between a v6 and inline 6. That motor there is a straight 6 or inline 6. A V design type motor is exactly that a v configuration that the Pistons run in. The only v6 that GM offered in 69 was a truck engine, a 305 I believe. But you couldn’t order it in a Camaro…….
Makes the Jag look like it had never been under water. Don’t even see a lot of parts to be had off this one.
Someone sure put a lot of work into straightening that V6.
Just buy a Dynacorn body and use this wreck as a parts car!
I’m guessing by the bids on this, that people are buying the VIN. And then building a Daynacorn or similar body.
“Original 1969 Chevrolet Camaro In Need Of Rescuing”
In need of crushing is more like it.
If it was in Canada and in CDn Dollars I would take it! It is what it is, a 69 Camaro Ragtop, lots of time and work to be put into it but heck, I am retired!I owned 3 of these, one a Pace Car which I still miss today.
Pass. not worth a comment!!
You just commented.
Well, I like the steering wheel and it is a convertible.
Well, price is still soaring fellas, at $9.600 U.S. Dollars, that is about $14,000 in Cdn dollars! Yowser!
A guy I know restored a same year Firebird 400 4speed convertible. The only original sheet metal was the rear door posts, Dutchman’s panel and trunk drain lips where the deck lid sits and seal and the door hinge post, all else was Chinese and used original. And it was a nice looking running and driving car. Throw this turd in the nearest scrap pile.
Ccfisher that is awesome “somebody took a lot of time to straighten that V6”
love it best comment all day!!
I would rather have this ’71 Z28 on ebay for $3200. Bidding ends in 17 hours.
