This is an exciting one, an original-owner, rust-free, original-paint-and-interior 1967 Ford Galaxie LTD Hardtop in amazing condition! This sort of car doesn’t pop up every day, even here where we get a lot of tips from great readers who keep an eye on the sales listings and send in those tips. This gorgeous car is listed here on eBay in one of my favorite cities in the country, the capital city of North Dakota: Bismarck. The current bid price is $13,700 but the reserve isn’t met yet.
This bid price is just barely past Hagerty’s #4 fair condition value of $12,800, which is not even close to what this beautiful car is worth. Their #3 good condition value is $20,300 and the #2 excellent condition value is $28,100. This will be an exciting auction to watch over the next day and a half as the auction ticks down to that winning bidder’s final offer at the last second. I hope it meets their seller’s reserve, this car is going to make someone very happy, but it has a long way to go.
The third-generation Ford LTD was made for model years 1965 through 1968. With a new and pronounced outward bend in the grille for the 1967 model year, it would be the last of this series to have vertically-stacked headlights, as the 1968 models had four headlights but they were horizontal rather than vertical. I prefer the vertical headlights but they’re not for everyone. Bob_in_TN, I hope that I’ve nailed this one correctly in referring to it as a Galaxie 500 XL. It doesn’t have the Galaxie 500 script on the quarter panels and from what I saw, the XL would have looked like this car, as far as the trim and details go. Update: CCFisher says that it’s an LTD, so the title has been updated, thanks!
We don’t see any underside photos of this beautiful car and with it being located in snow country since it was new, I’d be thinking about that. But, the seller doesn’t mention rust at all and it sure doesn’t appear to have any – aside from some mentioned surface rust underneath, which is normal for any car of this vintage. The trunk area looks spotless but the real treat, at least for me, is that red interior! It looks almost perfect inside, other than a crack in the steering wheel. A rust-free, original-owner, two-door-hardtop with a 390 V8? Yes, please!
Here’s that aforementioned 390-cu.in. OHV V8, which with its two-barrel carb would have had a staunch 275 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. Yes, this car will do a Jay Leno-like burnout. As the last of the vertical-headlight cars and one in this body style with that beautiful interior, what’s your guess on the seller’s reserve? $25,000?
Bucket list car.
Scotty, I’ll defer to more knowledgeable posters as to the most correct model name— it sure can be confusing. That aside, this is a very nice example. Normally I’d prefer some sort of styled wheels, but in this case the whitewalls/ wheel covers/ vinyl roof gives the car a very stately look. I’m fine with the red interior. Good ebay ad. One owner who obviously loved the car, what more can you ask for. I didn’t realize they were fetching these prices; assuming the reserve is met, someone is going to end up with a very desirable and attractive cruiser.
This is an LTD.
Thanks, CCFisher! The seller lists that in their heading, too, ugh.
Yes,as the poster above says..it is an LTD.The giveaway is the LTD crest on the vinyl roof and trunk.
according to the VIN, 7G62H141525
7 – 1967
G – Chicago, IL Assembly plant
62 – LTD 2 Door Hardtop, Bench seat, Formal roof
H – V8, 390, 2 bar. carb
So not a Galaxie or an XL, it’s a 1967 Ford LTD. The Galaxie 500 XL would have only had bucket seats. (vin 58 for hardtop, 59 for convertable), and there was no “Galaxie LTD” in 1967 as that was dropped in 1966.

Always thought the 67, 68 LTD/Galaxie line was the prettiest full size cars on the road for those years. The Caprice was a close 2nd but Ford really hit the mark with these
Scotty, I believe you mean FIRST design LTD ’65-’68.
Easy way to tell a 500 or XL from the LTD is the roof. All the two door fastbacks share the swoop of the roof with the same backlight, but the LTD had a narrower rear quarter window.

Beautiful car! It is an LTD. Abbreviated quarter window/elongated pillar. (had one) Looks like someone upgraded the interior. I like it! Also owned a ‘65 Galaxie LTD (2 drht). One year only model. LTD became a separate model in ‘66.
It’s a Ford. :)
One of he nicest styled cars ever made.
I hope someone buys it & takes care of it & drives it.
I love ’67 Fords and this one especially because of the perfect color combo of white with red interior with a black vinyl top. BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks for the great info, folks, and for being so dang polite about it! I made a mistake by misplacing (missing) the LTD that was right there in the seller’s heading. Barn Finds has the best family on the planet, if you all don’t know the correct answers then the world has totally become unhinged. Thanks!
I think the problem with this car value-wise is that Ford World stops after 1966.
And that’s a shame because I think the ’67s look great but the market doesn’t bear me out on that.
Went to $16,402, reserve not met.
Did they call these Crown Victoria LTD ?
Beautiful big Ford w the 390ci love em.
No. The LTD Crown Victoria was made from 1980-1991.
I know this is a tiny detail, but I remember riding in a new one of these on a road trip to Arkansas. It was the first car I ever rode in that had a blue light to indicate the driver was using high beams. You can see the little vertical rectangle on the dash under the speedometer at around 40 mph. I know it’s weird, but things like that used to make me want certain cars so badly. I guess I have a thing for little lights.
Me too Michael. I remember how that blue cold light would make me shiver on a cold night.
Ha ha gotta love it, yes that little detail is what i seem to remember a lot, when riding in the back seat of this car, I was 12 at that time, wow can’t belive others made note on that, in some sort of way it made me feel more secure in my dads new Ford Galaxie 500 LTD! If i had the money laying around I’d be allover this one! great comments guys👍
I get it. I had a new 1967 Mustang Fastback. 289 V-8 2 barrel. The little lights I liked were in the reverse vents on the hood. Ford put amber little lights in those vents. They came on when you used your turn signals. Still had the green ones on the dash. So fun to see it got me in the habit to this day of never turning without using the turn signals.
Remember the clicking sound of the dimmer switch?
