This 1990 Dodge Ramcharger is straight of the late 80s with its two-tone paint job and fake woodgrain trim, but that’s hardly a bad thing. We don’t get to see these genuine off-roaders in this sort of condition, but it helps that this example hails from Arizona and has under 70,000 original miles. Find it here on eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $15,250.
The paint has some sun fading, and while certainly not desirable, it helps confirm that this Ramcharger comes from high and dry desert country. The colors are a bit jarring by today’s standards but were typical for the era, with many trucks from GMC and Mopar all sporting these two-tone color schemes. The chrome bits look quite nice, too.
The interior looks decidedly more modern than I was expecting; perhaps they transitioned to a new style of cloth and bucket seats towards the end of the production run. The seller doesn’t provide excruciating detail on the mechanical condition of the truck, but the cosmetics seem to point to one that’s been nicely maintained.
The dash plastics and woodgrain trim appear to be in excellent condition, and some light mechanical refreshing has been carried out. This includes: new tires, brakes, tune up and wiper assembly, according to the seller. I suspect these trucks will continue to appreciate as time goes on, and nice ones like this will likely not lose their value any time soon.
What, no engine? Maybe you have really big rubber bands to wind up and let loose.
Well yeah… Except it’s got a 318 in it
Maybe I am missing something, I do see an engine. What I do not see is the 15,250.00 for this.
Well sure Leinnie, maybe on (gasp!) EBay, but not a mention here. Somebody is drinking on the job. Call me a curmudgeon, but I would like to know what power plant a truck has, sort of seems a tad important, or is style the king?
Hi Sandy, I hope all is well. Not going to call you a curmudgeon. I agree, it should have been posted in the write up. A tad important for sure. I am drinking now, not on the job though! Take care, Mike.
Sandy Claws, apparently the Ramcharger has a 318, but the fact that it doesn’t have an OEM Chrysler Turbo-Encabulator is a total deal breaker for me… ;-)

Yup, it’s a nice Ramcharger and I’m sure they’ll gain more popularity when all Broncos , K5s and Scouts are scooped up . However we’re not yet there and I also hope we never get to a point when a 318 equipped Ramcharger sells for the price of a new budget Wrangler. It’s not good for the economy, neither on personal nor national level.
Anyway, it’s a great starting point for a cool rig and I hope, after seller has sobered up and reconsidered his asking, that it gets into ownership of an enthusiast of 4×4 vehicles; that’s where it belongs
While I wouldn’t drop $15k on this, I can justify the price.
Supply and demand. There just aren’t many 1st gen dodges left in nice condition. Dodge production was barely a blimp on the radar to Chevy and Ford’s. And those they did make were literally run into the ground because they ran forever no matter how poorly you treated them. Even more of them rotted away to nothing in the northeastern winters.
If you give people a tough, dependable truck and then take them away.. prices will rise for those that are left. Because there are too many people out there that can’t/won’t spend $40k+ on a new rig.
1st gen? Try 2nd gen. 74-80 is considered 1st gen.
I remember when these were 3grand all day. I can see paying 8 for it as they are hard to find, but this isn’t optioned well enough for the price. Not the best color combo, and it looks like a real stripper model. Is that a radio delete plate I see?
My cousin had a black 79 ramcharger when he was in high school and kept it for a while after he got out of high school when I was some where around 10 year old at the time and it had a 400 big block under the hood with full time all wheel drive and an automatic transmission and it was all stock I wish I had pictures to show
