Pair of Mercedes 200D’s for $3,750!

Diesel Fintails

For the old-school Mercedes diesel fan, your ship has come in! Here on eBay right now, you can buy a pair of manual transmission-equipped Heckflosse fintails for less than $4,000! One is running and the other is a parts car, but these old girls are fairly stout – and with the purchase price being so low, you’d be forgiven if you tried to get the other one running before pillaging it. Aside from the bargain basement pricing, these cars also appear relatively complete. They don’t look rusty or accident-damaged, the chrome and glass looks decent, and even the interiors are livable. I’m not sure what the catch is, but I’m not seeing it. The cars are located in Atlanta and the official Buy-it-Now is $3,750. Who’s going to grab these beauties?

From my experience, linkages are rarely the cause of transmissions popping out of gear. These engines can be used in boats. Had a 180D burn in the winter due to badly wired block heaters and the engine was put into a fishing boat.

I dig the Heckflosse body cars. Being manual trans is a great plus. I’d keep one diesel and get gas engine for the other. The distance and timing are the killers for me but this is one heck(flosse) of a deal…

I had one of these that I sold @ > 400,000 miles – still running strong. > 30 MPG, lots of trunk space (they were mainly used as taxis) and just great cars.

Memories: I bought a 190D while in grad school. At the time it had 150K. It suited our family and we drove it through grad school and post grad. Two coaching jobs later it had 450K on the clock and still ran perfectly. I finally sold it to upgrade to a 220D. I found y 190 in a wrecking year last year. The top and deck and been cut off and it was bring used as a yard truck. My oldest was with me and he recognized the beast from a repair I had made on the front end. Those motors will run forever if you keep the oil and filters clean
