Parked In ’80: 1975 Chevrolet Camaro

In 1980 the owner of this then 5-year-old Camaro parked it in a barn, and that’s where it has sat for the past 38 years. It has now emerged and the owner is in search of someone to return it to its former glory. You will find it listed for sale here on eBay. Located in Mount Airy, Maryland, it comes with a clear title. Bidding has reached $2,600 at the time of writing.

The seller states that this car is solid, with only rust in the lower rear quarters to show for the Camaro’s 43 years of life. The car underwent a Ziebart treatment when new, which would account for its current, relatively solid condition. Apart from the previously mentioned quarter panels, there may be a couple of small areas on the lower front fenders, but the seller provides a shot of the trunk floor and it appears to be solid.

The interior looks to be quite salvageable. The dash is largely intact and crack-free, although somebody has fitted an aftermarket radio/cassette player. The dash pad and door trims look to be quite good, but the carpet and the covers on the seats could both stand replacing.

Under the hood is the 350ci engine backed by an automatic transmission. The seller states that the car ran when parked (love that expression) but gives no indication of its current state. If the car has been sitting since 1980 there is some work ahead of the new owner, but if the engine turns freely it may not be too bad. You can guarantee that every rubber component is going to require replacement, and I highly doubt that the air conditioning will function after all of these years.

If this Camaro is as solid as it appears then it could make a great project car, especially if the price remains at about its current level. It would be very interesting to give it a wash and a dose of polish to see how the original paint has really fared during its hibernation. If it comes up okay then there may not be a great deal of work involved in whipping that body into shape. If the engine can be revived with little work then that’s also a bonus, and it may not take too much work to return this Camaro to the road.

I can understand parking as these were not that much of a looker as was the lower horsepower

I am sure someone will want it 👍👀

Just wondering, is Craigslist still in business? Almost every article lately is from EBay. I personally would never buy a car off Ebay. Much prefer knowing the price going in and kicking a few tires.T

Parked after 5 years. Those must have been some brutal 5 years. It was probably sitting outside for a good number of years as well.

It looks like it led a rough life. How much do nice 74-77 Camaros sell for?

Looks like possible rust below rear window on that qtr panel… But I could be mistaken.

My favorite expression in car ads is “original miles.” I have yet to see a car with “unoriginal miles.”

Sold for $2600. Good project for that money, IMHO.
