Originally a Forestry vehicle, this ’59 Dodge Power Wagon Town Wagon is a unique 4 wheel drive find. Painted with a certain dedication to the Partridge family, this Dodge is thought to be a low mileage example, but it has been updated a bit. There are modern seats up front, and there is a 340 V8 in the nose. The truck is described as functional, so I would guess with a little work you could have a Partridge family vacation with this Dodge! Bidding has risen to $3,050 for this unique find. Check it out here on eBay out of Jacksonville, Florida.
Taking a look inside there are some updates to be seen like the seats, gauges, sheet metal door panels, and what appears to be a tilt steering column. The drive train is what’s so cool about this old Dodge. There is NP 4 speed transmission that feeds power to a NP Divorced transfer case, and there is a Dana 60 in the back doing the heavy lifting. Power comes from a 1969 340 4 barrel V8, with a towing cam, and a Holley carb. The 4wd components are described as properly functioning, and the engine is described as a quick starter.
As the seller has so delicately put it, the Florida salt air is starting to take a toll on this old Dodge. There are a few minor areas where rot has developed but as a whole this truck seems very reasonable. The driver side floor and step area are developing some rot, and the seller shares concern for the drip rails and the cab mounts. Aluminum tape has been affixed to the upper portion of the body along where the drip rail is. It is unclear if this tape is hiding surface rust or rot. Also the condition of the cab mounts is a bit vague. There is surface rust developing on the exterior of this Dodge, and perhaps even some small areas of rot along the rear apron below the rear doors. There is a generous amount of surface rust on the roof, and the rockers look to have some rust blisters. Several spares are included in the sale sweetening the deal on this vintage 4×4. Are you in need of a Partridge family off-roader?
It would have been a lot easier to paint it all one color. It would have looked nicer too. Otherwise, it’s not a bad looking truck.
I love everything about this truck but the paint scheme and that rear bumper.
I like the truck. These are getting to be quite desirable to some of us. I would’ve preferred a more original-type Poly-head engine but the 340 sure won’t let it lag behind. I’d definitely fix the rust and then put the Partridge Family back in the annals of television history. I might add that if I came across the bus they used, it would change colors fast….
I thought Susan Dey was super hot back then. :)
She was the only reason I watched the show…..
Love the truck and the 340 but sure needs a paint job!
Oh, for crying out loud, get out the DA sander, it looked ridiculous in the 70’s, it looks silly now. Such cool trucks, and the wheels compliment it, but give the old gal some dignity, make it look nice, (that original light blue would be nice) not ready to pull some circus float.
How to Screw Up a Really Cool Old Truck:
Paint it like this.
Sheesh!
I realize it’s early, but where’s the “too much dope” jokes when you need them?
Wow. How cool would this truck be with the old forestry markings on it. What a shame.
Being from Fla I’d be afraid of the rust in the roof. Cool truck otherwise. Buyer beware!!
I’ve always liked the looks of the 58-60 Dodge trucks, but they didn’t sell well, hard to find them these days. Most people probably don’t know, but the Town Wagon and Town Panel were built in this same body style through 1966. I would lose the ridiculous paint job and put it back to original.
Love it minus the dippy hippy paint job … mellow yellow anyone… i suppose they had to do something before the “freebase” crackheads came along lol
I’d have to paint it before I drove it.
I dunno. I think the old truck is cool in it’s coat of different colors. I like it. Can’t please everyone and I am sure the owner can attest it is more popular with those that see it in person the then those viewing it on here with their phones.
Very clever way to cover up decades of fading/peeling paint as well as rust yet protecting what is here. Very cool. This is a unique package and the owner presents it well. Lots to look at. One thing for sure premium fuel at over $3.00 now that 340 with 4:10’s is going to have quite an appetite. The 340 is an odd choice for a motor. It will only run 60 mph. Could put anything in with the same result. That seems an issue. Bragging on the motor and everyone says yeah right like every other 340 thats’ really a 318. But this one really is. Hmmmm.
Cool way to burn cash on the weekend while bouncing around hanging on the steering wheel. This brute will take YOU for a ride. No need for a mechanical bull. It is the bull.
