The Volkswagen Beetle has always been one of the friendliest classics to restore, thanks to simple mechanicals, huge parts support, and a devoted enthusiast following. This 1969 Volkswagen Beetle looks like a solid opportunity for someone who wants a manageable project to wrench on. Located in Stanton, California, it is offered as a Barn Finds Exclusive with a clean title and an asking price of $3,600.

The seller describes this Beetle as a project that is currently stored in a climate-controlled shop. They also state that it’s equipped with a four-cylinder engine that’s paired with a manual transmission, and the odometer shows 64,114 miles. What they don’t say is the engine size, but it would have left the factory with a 53-horsepower 1.5-liter. Of course, with Beetles, you never know what engine you might find under the hood, so you will want to check the engine numbers to be sure. The car is said to come with the parts needed to complete the build, which should make it more appealing than a stripped shell or an abandoned project that’s missing everything.

Photos show the Beetle in primer, along with loose parts, interior components, trim pieces, and mechanical items laid out separately. There’s a set of California plates in the parts, which we assume were on the car and while they don’t add value, it’s a cool piece of history to have with the car. The engine is present, and in the car, so that’s a plus. The body appears to be solid and straight. Thankfully, there aren’t any signs of modification or crash damage.

The seller originally planned to restore the car but no longer has the time or money to finish it. That gives the next owner a chance to step into a classic Beetle project with a head start, especially if the included parts inventory is as complete as stated.

This 1969 Volkswagen Beetle needs a ton of work before it can return to the road, but Beetles are straightforward cars to work on. As long as the floor and major structural components are solid, it’s definitely a worthwhile project. If you’ve never driven a Beetle, it’s a fun and unique experience. And honestly, there aren’t many affordable classics that draw the kind of attention a Bug does!

Heck I only paid 4 grand for my 73 Super beetle and it’s all put together and runs great. Projects like this usually are missing quite a few parts.
