Keen-eyed readers may recognize this truck, it was featured here on Barn Finds in March of 2017. It appears the same truck has been in several ads since then. Currently it can be found here, offered by sale by Diversion Motors in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. So what makes this truck worth revisiting? For one, it’s a Mercury truck from the 1960’s, which are very rare. Second, is the asking price. The advertised price sixteen months ago was $7,995, now the seller is asking $12,500!
Other than the seat being reupholstered, the interior looks the same as it did before. As you can see, the truck features a manual transmission and appears to be bone-stock. The gauges and indicator lights are said to function properly and there doesn’t appear to be a ton of rust in the door jambs.
The engine is a 360 c.i.d. and looks mainly stock as well. Inspecting the original pictures compared to the new ones, you can see the positive battery cable is new as well as the master cylinder. Other than that, it doesn’t appear any work has been done.
So what can we learn from this truck? Apparently a few hundred dollars in parts equals a few thousand dollars in profit. While these trucks (5th generation Ford trucks) have become more popular and valuable over the years, it’s hard to imagine that they have appreciated fifty percent in sixteen months. The Mercury-factor is certainly cool, but it appears this dealer may be a little off-base with their asking price. You know the old saying though…Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. How about you? Are you willing to pay $12,500 for this truck?
I like this better

Oh yeah..and a Super Six to boot
The Mercury factor would be a lot cooler if the Mercury tailgate wasn’t bent. It looks like a difficult fix in a place that will be in harm’s way, while a replacement will probably be difficult to find.
I think that I would investigate sectioning the “Mercury” part into a Ford tailgate.
That is one expensive seat cover.
It is the heavy duty six lug version that is not nearly as popular as the lighter series. I am sure the dealer knows this and is just fishing for a sucker.
It has 8 lugs(look at the front wheel), and it’s way over priced.what little cool factor it has isn’t worth the price by a long, long way.some moron will probably pay it tho.
definitely overpriced, but whats wrong with 8 lugs?
I assume that nice building in the background is included at that price. Not a bad deal.
Exactly why I sold our 70 Mach1 and moved up to the newer generations idea of collector cars 2012 GT/CS. The bubble is going to burst soon and I’m not getting caught in the aftermath. In fact I may pick up another classic for far less money in better shape in 5 years.
Mercury Blues wasn’t written for a pickup, but who ends up buying it will be singing them.
Wow what a beautiful truck.if it gets up to $15,000 I might think about bidding…or maybe I’ll wait for a 68 Lincoln truck..ya that’s what I’ll do.
Lotta $$$ for a used truck, albe an uncommon one. I can’t see That much difference from a Ford to make it worth Anywhere Near the difference. Uneik, unusual, yes, collectable, not by me. I’ll pass, good luck to its new owner.
Is the pic playing tricks, or is something funny going on with the hood hinges? Rust thrived in this area and the front cab mounts. Seems high, is the fact that its a merc making it more valuable?
Good luck to the new owner.
It’s still in Canada, but this one is a 1/2 ton and only $5K – seems about in the same condition…

I really want it and I’m not sure why.
I believe that a guy should make a profit, this is a little overboard! I believe that there is plenty of room in Hades for greedy people!
Most people when they find they can’t sell something at their asking price, lower the price. I’d offer maybe $4500 for this truck if I wanted it, which I don’t.
It’s a world gone mad…..
Looks like “Texas pricing” has made it’s way to my home state,,,they’re nuts.
I sold him that truck last year for $3,500 because I had it advertised for 6 months at $7,995 and no one even called about it so I just let it go cheap. That radiator leaks and the floorboards have a little rust through. Pretty decent truck though. Shame he did such a cheap job re-trimming the seat. I would have preferred the more detailed original vinyl even though it was worn. This was when I hauled it from Canada down to California.
Do you know where this truck is now??
