Despite reaching $30,000 in bids, the reserve remains unmet for this vintage 1965 Chevrolet Corvette track car, which supposedly was quite successful on the SCCA Solo 2 circuit throughout the 60s and 70s. Known as “Peas and Carrots” in the racing world, it supposedly wears original paint with a 350 L46 engine under the hood. Find it here on eBay with less than a day left in the auction.
The Corvette’s body looks to be in great shape, despite years of track usage. The seller says the only change from its race days is a new set of wheels and tires. No mention is made of how long it’s been off the road, or whether it’s been campaigned in vintage racing association events. The seller says it comes with generous history files regarding its competition past.
The interior isn’t as modified as I was expecting, with a racing bucket and harness installed next to a standard OEM seat. The windshield has obviously been removed and a roll bar installed, and I’m sure there are numerous other tweaks to the cabin that a seasoned racer can spot. The seller doesn’t mention track incidents, but Solo 2 is generally less prone to serious accidents.
The seller notes the engine runs strong and that the Corvette is quite quick. 33,994 miles are indicated and it comes with a clean Arizona title. Originally, it was a California ‘Vette that wore genuine black plates, but it’s clear this car will likely always be a track build. Now, it just needs an owner that will take Peas & Carrots back to the track. Will it clear the reserve?
I can’t remember the last time I saw a hood ornament on a race car.
Oh mama. Yes please.
Cool car.
I think I’d cut the roll bar down by about a foot and install a windshield frame and glass.
Take it to the street!
Same. Looks a bit out of proportion, but would be a load of fun.
Once owned by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
This car’s been for sale for quite a while. Unfortunately, the market for mid-year Corvette vintage racers has been soft for a couple year now, and the current high bid of $38K is probably about what the car’s worth.
Interestingly, there’s a twin to this 65. Besides this B Prepared 65, they also autocrossed a 454 powered 72 A Prepared Corvette, painted the exact same way. The 72 is owned by a guy in Florida, who’s been vintage racing it for years.
Leiniedude… Autocrossers have been hanging strange stuff on the front of their cars forever. Best one I’ve ever seen was a bright green, 8 inch “Kermit the frog” facing forward with his arms (or whatever) stretched out and his mouth wide open.
Thanks Bob, I will look closer the next time at the track. Kermit sounds interesting! Ended: Jul 10, 2019 , 7:24PM

Peas and Carrots, wow, I never in a million years would have thought up that name for and angry sounding Corvette track star. Good looking car too…hate to see it just sitting around if that is the case here.
