Perfect Patina Project: 1964 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed

This 1964 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed is the kind of truck patina enthusiasts dream about, now offered for sale in Kansas City. Sporting its original beige finish with an even, weathered patina, this long-bed pickup is described as straight, complete, and ready for someone’s vision, whether that’s a shop truck, a slammed cruiser, or a full-blown restoration. Currently for sale here on eBay, not currently running, but it rolls, steers, and carries all the vintage character that makes early C-10s such popular project trucks. The seller is offering it with a clean title and notes that all major body panels, glass, and trim are intact.

Chevrolet’s 1960–1966 “Action Line” trucks have become a hot commodity among classic pickup fans, and this one checks many of the right boxes for a solid project. The factory long-bed body wears its age proudly, with matching patina across the hood, fenders, and cab. Even better, it still sports its original “10” series fender emblems and rides on steel wheels with hubcaps, giving it that authentic, no-nonsense work-truck vibe.

The truck isn’t without its typical trouble spots. Rust is present in the usual areas—cab corners, rockers, and lower doors—but the seller doesn’t mention any major structural issues. The photos will be key for anyone considering how deep the repairs will need to go, but for a shop truck or rat rod-style build, some enthusiasts might leave the body as-is.

Inside, the cab is complete but worn, with the original bench seat, dash, and steering wheel all present. While a restoration would require a full interior refresh, a quick cleanup could make it serviceable for casual cruising.

Under the hood, the inline-six engine remains in place, though the seller notes its condition is unknown. The manual transmission is still fitted, and while the truck doesn’t currently run, it rolls and steers freely. The seller even suggests that it’s an ideal candidate for an LS swap or a static drop build, which are popular modifications in the C-10 community.

With its straight body, honest patina, and complete trim, this ’64 C-10 looks like an ideal starting point for a custom build or a preservation-style driver. Would you restore it back to its original work-truck look, or drop in a modern V8 and cruise it as a shop truck with all that great patina intact?

This doesn’t make a lick of sense, and I don’t understand. Here you have what is allegedly one of the most wanted classic trucks today, even within MY price range, and still here? 201 viewers and NO BIDS? What’s the sticky wicket here? Not running? A stick? With being in KC, certainly a central location, it seems the hobby is worse off than I thought. Hey, in case you haven’t noticed, with everything being so expensive, like that $8 bundle of firewood, something has to give, I think we’re looking at it at this site. Anyone? Do we have a resident psychiatrist on duty here? If so, am I the one who is nuts?

I hear you, Howard A. After owning a ‘63 Chevy 283/3spd and a ‘64 GMC 305V6/4spd, I feel I should have bid on it in spite of my full 3-car garage and consistently argumentative wife. It’s gone now at what could be a bargain price, hopefully to someone deserving.

Somebody got a good deal by 2025 standards. Like I say, “It ain’t 1975 anymore”. Given the two choices Elizabeth presented, I’d go modern V8 with a serious suspension upgrade to boot.
