Pristine 1970 Buick Skylark GS 455

Clean and pristine, that is what you are looking at of this 1970 Buick Skylark GS 455. Restored in 1985, this show quality cruiser is priced at a buy it now of $31,000. Or you can bid to win, which sits at $25,000 with the reserve not yet met. There are 97,819 miles on the car and it has a clean title and a VIN listed. The car is currently located in Charlton, Massachusetts. You can view more on eBay.

Purring under the hood is a 455 cubic inch V8 that is connected to an automatic transmission. This 3rd owner of the car has kept up on the maintenance, having recently flushed all the fluids, put in a new radiator, and installed outer tie rod ends. A new petronix ignition module has been installed along with new tires and a muffler. They do note that the air conditioning does blow, but not cold, so it needs to be recharged.

Inside, the white seats and black carpeting are a fitting complement to the Desert Gold paint. The listing describes the car as having a few creature comforts including a title wheel, air condition, and power windows. It also has a tachometer, map and truck light, and a rear defroster. They do note that it is a non posi car. As you can see in the photos, the interior is in fantastic shape and has been well maintained.

As amazing as this car is, it does have some very small flaws. Three of which the seller is honest enough to point out. Such a kind gesture should be taken with thankfulness and appreciation, as most of the three flaws would more than likely be overlooked in an initial overview of the car, and quite possibly a more thorough review. Overall, this seems like a great car from a great seller and should be on your radar if you are in the market for a car like this.

Man, is this a sweetheart. Cool story. While staying in upstate NY a few years back, the guys son-in-law has a well respected Audi/VW repair shop. High end, being in NY, works on all the exotics. Naturally, we talked about cars a lot, and he said, of all the cars he’s driven, he shows me a picture of what he REALLY wants, one of these, a 455 GS. That sure says something to me.

I work a few blocks away from where the old Amos & Andy Buick was located. Nice car.

I was surprised also when I saw it was sold new in the Ischemic, I mean, Scenic City!

      Beautiful car inside and out!

I don’t pretend to know the market for these cars but $31K almost sounds like a bargain. Even in spite of the car’s shortcomings.

Isn’t this the Buick that beat the Hemi in a drag race back in the day?

Unusual color but very attractive with the GS graphics package. Buyer will definitely not be upside down on this car. Nice find.

Actually that was a GS455 Stage1 which is worth considerably more. Having said that, I agree; this appears to be a good value on a really cool car!

If this was a 454 Chevelle in the exact same condition, it would be over twice the price…bargain? You betcha….

I would have to change out the wheels. But only because I’d cruise them right off this thing.

Beautiful Skylark Max. That looks pristine! My 71 was ridden hard and put away wet. I put a lot of work into it to make it a driver. I can appreciate the care that was taken of yours. Enjoy!

I didn’t know they even made a non posi 455, but I guess if it was just a Skylark it would be possible. Gorgeous color, and a great Buick. GLWTA.

What’s the color and where listed…
If freon is gone, it has a leak, not just a “recharge”

Sometimes the leak is from the compressor shaft seals drying out from sitting. I recharged my ’92 Buick with precious R12 five years ago and use the car often. It’s still holding fine.

As a retired Ford Lincoln Mercury technician, a leak could be anywhere, whenever I did a AC repair, I always installed “black light dye for the next guy”
It’s easier to see a leak than to try and “sniff” one out.

The Frigidaire A/C compressor shaft seal was designed to leak about 1 oz of Freon 12 a year. The thinking behind that was to keep the shaft seal lubricated with refrigerant system oil.

I’ve owned my fair share of Buick Gran Sports , still have a couple . This is a non- Stage car with non original graphics and spoiler on the old repaint in the original color . No mention of drivetrain numbers . It’s an automatic . Posi-Traction was not ordered or not in place now . I think $31K is all the money and then some on this car . JMHO .

Yup, Buick guy all my life, had a few GS Stage 1 cars, also had one GSX car #125, 455 Stage 1, turbo 400, Saturn Yellow, had to sell everything when my mom was in nursing home. Still have my 68 2door Skylark future GS clone from 30+ plus years ago, that’s why I was asking about what color car was. Kuell looking deep gold on that car.
Currently putzing around in 96 Impala SS, and 79 Ford F-100 short box, 47 Buick 2door Sedanett 50 series stashed in garage.
Cars are on hold while I’m fighting cancer.

Now that’s a beautiful thing. 455 wonderplant will pass those pesky slow drivers like right now, and you’ll look cool doing it with the custom graphics and spoiler…some gen Xer ‘s, and I know this from experience, will wonder just what year of Chevelle that was that left ’em flat standing still. Haha.
