Probable Barn Find: 1970 Dodge Charger R/T

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The seller of this 1970 Dodge Charger R/T doesn’t offer much information in their Hemmings listing, but hopefully they claim it is “barn find” because it’s original and not just dirty. They do claim the paint and interior are original, but we have our doubts. It does have the 440 V8 and it appears to be the 375 horsepower Magnum…

The interior is going to need a good cleaning and a detailed inspection to make sure it truly is original. Also be sure to check the paint in the door jams and the engine bay. From what can be seen in the photos, there appears to be over spray on the rubber gaskets and the engine bay looks to be a different shade of orange. It could just be the lighting, but it’s something we would want to look into before handing over any money.

Whether it’s original or not, this Charger appears to be in very solid and should make for a fun project. Hopefully this truly is a survivor, but even if it isn’t, that fact shouldn’t hurt the value too much. We would focus on getting it back on the road and just enjoy it as is. How about you?

Not bad for the price, the color diff, could be just fading, and its part way out of a barn.

Seems like the seller has the name wrong on the photo album, it’s a ’69 Charger, not a ’70 Challenger.

But given that mistake, and the layer of dust, we’d definitely want to get someone who knows Mopars out there to check it over before bidding. It would be nice if they’d at least clean it and post new photos as well, or maybe they’re hoping the dust will hide the flaws.

The r/t letters do not seem right. To small and too low. I had one but its been years but I did compare it to some old pictures.

Agree with Ian…it’s misnamed in the Hemmings listing. That photo of the data plate sure suggests a repaint to me—Mopar experts please correct me if I’m wrong. Plus the windshield wiper posts still have resale red paint all over them. The vinyl seat covers are not original, they’re….seat covers.

The upside is that the body looks like it might be pretty good, but unfortunately the camera man seemed to be concerned more with presenting the car in a barn find setting than with showing the condition of the body in any kind of detail.

All that said, it looks like it could be worth a close look if you’re in the vicinity and you want a ’69 Charger.

IT IS A REPAINT!!! Look at the wiper “BARRELS” they are orange instead of the metal color!! Only God knows what kind of stuff lies under the paint… and even he would be surprised!

Ok guys there comes a point where a vehicle should be listed as a “barn find” for real and hope and pray you get a buyer for your in-vogue themed (Barn find) auto OR find one and invest a lil time & muscle cleaning it up and minor mechanics/body work and then listing it. This particular car is collectable but not rare, therefore I would of cleaned her up and enjoyed the end result and tacked on a few thousand or maybe just kept her for a fun driver for awhile. To me to be listed as a “Barn find” it should be a very collectable/rare auto, there are many out there….

F.Y.I. This car is offered by coolcarsforsale.net Pompano beach Florida. They do list this car as a 1969, where these pictures taken in the Florida area? They also list consignment, just wondering?

I may be wrong, but this charger looks more like a ’69. The ’70 had a one piece grill, and this car has the 2-piece grill found on ’69s. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am.
