For many enthusiasts, the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 remains one of the most desirable pony cars of the muscle car era. This example, listed here on eBay, is described by the seller as a “project driver” that runs and drives. With its M-code 351 Windsor V8 and a 4-speed Toploader manual transmission, this fastback represents an excellent starting point for restoration or enjoyment as-is.

Under the hood sits the 351W V8 topped by a Holley four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. The seller notes that it is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox, dual exhaust, and power steering and brakes, making it a well-optioned Mach 1 from the start.

According to the buck tag, this car was delivered with desirable features including the TuTone hood, GT Equipment Package, racing mirrors, rocker moldings, courtesy lights, floor console, and AM/8-track radio. These options made the Mach 1 one of the best-equipped performance Mustangs of its day.

Cosmetically, the car presents as a project in need of attention. Finished in black, the body will likely require refinishing and detail work to bring it back to show condition, though the seller emphasizes that it runs and drives as-is. With the iconic fastback lines intact, this Mach 1 is a strong candidate for restoration.

Inside, the floor console and other factory Mach 1 details remain present, giving the next owner a solid base to work from. The interior will need cosmetic refreshing, but many key components appear to be in place.

Offered with a clean New Hampshire title, this 1969 Mach 1 strikes a balance between usability and restoration potential. Enthusiasts will appreciate that it’s not a basket case—it can be enjoyed as a driver today while long-term plans for a full restoration are made.
Would you keep this 1969 Mustang Mach 1 as a running project driver, or restore it back to factory glory?

Reminds me of John Wick’s Mustang Mach 1
I would recover the front seats and repaint the flat black and likely put new carpet and sound proofed floors.
A Marti report would’ve helped sale.
The undercoating is possibly hiding rust. The owner should’ve blasted or wire wheeled rear end and subframe to remove its surface rust and then rattle canned it if a compressor wasn’t handy.
It looks like a nicer starter project with a four speed to boot.
If the engine is original then would keep with car build .
Seller calls it a Mach1, yet when they list the Marti report content they say it says GT. Which is it, a GT or Mach1? Those are different options.

And can make a big difference.
The seller has not provided any information from a Marti report. The information that the seller did provide is from decoding the body buck tag. The coding on a buck tag is not always the same as what was used on the door data plate or a Marti report.
Far too much work for this life, good luck.
Is really a fear project to do it and bring in back! Let’s see underneath and quarter panels could find a little bit unpleasant surprises! After all it should be something there ! But still a good project!
The AM 8 track doesn’t look original
The AM 8 track doesn’t look original
I believe that is not the original engine. 1969 351W 4bbl should have quad bolts at the front corners.
I’d want to see the Marti report and the full VIN. Options listed are what it was delivered with; some options are not there now. The undercoating may be hiding a lot of rust underneath. Requires an in depth, up close inspection.
Bids are at $20100 thats the top or too high at this point with all the work needed that we can see in the pics on top of what is surly there we can’t see and the reserve is not met. However if it could be had at a good price and it ran good I would redo the entire interior then drive it for a while. But at $20k plus not so much. 1969 is still my favorite mustang ever!
