Promising Project: 1969 Lotus Elan

1969-lotus-elan-project

The seller of the Eclat we featured last week got into the Barn Finds spirit and started searching around online for other cars. He stumbled across this 1969 Lotus Elan and wanted to share it with everyone. It looks a little rough, but is claimed to be solid and rust free. The $10k asking price might seem a little high, but they are including over $6,500 worth of new parts. Sounds like a promising project to us. Take a look at the craigslist ad and let us know what you think. Thanks goes to Sylvio G. for sending this in.

This has been on Ebay at times and Craigslist for a while. 170 h.p………ahhh……really?
Now, for those who have never driven an old Lotus………it is beyond fun.

Lotus’ have always been high in regasrs\ds with me.
others did not think so until recently when even the most unreliable cars (Jaguars, MGs Opels and Audis) have picked up in value.
    So it’s just relatively appreciaating….
Not too long ago one could buy a ’60ies and ’70ies Lotus for a couple thousand dollars.
I guess that ship has sailed….
Now I may not want to sell my original Lotus Eclat anymore…..

Save the 10K and lease a new Elise if you want a driving experience.

This car was bought from an infamously dishonest dealer, so there is no telling about the provenance of this car or its condition. This is one to RUN RUN RUN away from.
