This 1975 Ford Bronco sure seems like a great project for someone to finish. There have already been numerous parts replaced and the seller is including other new parts to finish the job. Found here on eBay with a current bid over $9,500, the green gem is located in Bowling Green, Virginia. With the prices on these early broncos really climbing over the past few years, this may be the right time to pick up a solid project like this one.
The engine is a 302 c.i.d. and is mated to a 3-speed transmission. The seller lists a large number of parts that have been replaced already. New parts under the hood include the following: Radiator, double roller timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, Motorocraft 2bbl carb, and valve cover gaskets. The seller states the old Bronc runs well but it sounds like it isn’t driven much.
Here you can see some of the new parts that are included with the sale. While vintage parts aren’t as hard to find as they used to be, at least the buyer won’t have to spend any time or money tracking these ones down. The seller states these “extra” parts are valued at about $2,000. They include mostly suspension and body parts. These trucks are fairly prone to rust in the usual spots, but this one seems to be quite solid. The ad does mention rust around the passenger compartment especially the floor and rockers.
Overall, this appears to be a really solid project with a ton of potential. A prospective buyer would be wise to carefully inspect the rust issues to be sure they aren’t getting more than they bargained for. It looks like this truck could be a fun cruiser for the rest of this summer with a mild tear-down this winter to be ready again next year. What do you think, does this truck look like a winner or is it too good to be true?
We just sold my wife’s 70 Mach1 and purchased a 2012 California special otherwise I would be off to Virginia to take a closer look at this one, needs rockers but that’s not a big deal if that’s the only serious rust.
You sold a ‘70 Mach l to buy a 2012 California Special…? I’ll never understand some people’s thinking.
Jett, the reason was we are not getting any younger and taking care of the 70 was getting too much for me and I wanted it to go to some one who would keep it as nice as we have for years to come, also going to car shows in other states the 2012 will be much easier on our worn out bodies. Lastly the musclecar hobby is in a bubble and soon it’s going to burst and we don’t want to lose more than we did by selling it later. Besides the Coyote in this 2012 will run circles around that 351C.
He also mentions a door post and an inner kick panel needing replacement as well – those can be a real pain to replace and once you get in there, you’ll probably find more. But still not too bad for an Eastern vehicle – I’m amazed what people are repairing on these trucks these days. Back in the day, we parted them out if there was much rust at all. Looks like a decent platform to start with though.
brought back 1 in early 80s frm 3 or 4 that were much worse than this 1(puttin in 5 speed and different motor right now as use has changed entirely).
’75 = DS I ele ign, D44, J handled x-fer, 302ci (last 2 yrs would have discs up frnt) some nicer oem upgrades, some not.
Each panel maker has a different quality. I’d rather pick my own. I may C a locker’n some axels – same, rather pick my own…
I’d B cautious – Y did some1 start’n stop? Some underlying probs not expected?
or
personal issues?
4 a fairly rural area I think it’s over priced but do not follow that very closely.
The price that these little broncos are going for makes this one look like a steal to me! Really nice visually, but I wonder what a close inspection might reveal? Seems awful cheap price to pay! It would be great for the buyer! I don’t think that this person checked the market on price before he put it up for sale! I am sure that if he holds out he will get every penny he is asking or he’s not to bright!
