The seller of this 1969 Mustang is only the car’s second owner. He has only owned the car for a few months but has decided to sell it. There might be a good reason for this decision, which we will get to shortly. In the meantime, you will find the Mustang advertised for sale here on eBay. It is located in Rutledge, Tennessee, and is being offered for sale with a clear title. After opening at $1,000, bidding has climbed to $24,500 at the time of writing.
While the paintwork is looking more than a bit second-hand, the thing that grabbed my attention on the Mustang is the distinct lack of rust. Apart from some beginning to appear behind both rear wheel arches. the car looks remarkably clean. Don’t think with this car that beauty is only skin deep, as there are a number of photos showing some of the more susceptible areas, and they also look clean. The owner says that the car is still wearing its original paint, and it also looks to be complete, with no obvious items missing.
Inside the car, the good news continues. The original black interior trim is in good condition, with no obvious problems visible on the seats, door trims, headliner, or other plastic trim items. The only things to note are some discoloring of the carpet, and the dash pad has cracked through the grille on the top of the pad. Otherwise, it all looks good.
Under the hood are the 428ci R-Code engine and 4-speed manual transmission. I told you there may be a reason why the owner has decided to part with the car so quickly, and this could potentially be part of the motivation. The car was running and driving, but the owner was moving the car from his driveway and into his garage when the motor suddenly locked. He believes that the engine will require a full rebuild. If there is one blessing in this, it’s the fact that this occurred at relatively low revs. If this failure had happened when the engine was spinning at high revs, then the results would almost certainly have been catastrophic. The other piece of news to consider is that while the heads, intake, carburetor, fan and fan clutch, and radiator and shroud all appear to be original to the car, the engine block has not been verified as original.
The fact that the engine in this Mustang is locked is a real tragedy. If it can be revived and is also confirmed to be original, then this is a Mustang, that if restored properly, would fetch a price well in excess of $70,000 in today’s market. As I said at the start, bidding on the car has been really strong so far, so it seems that there are some people out there who can see the potential, and are willing to roll the dice.
One of my neighborhood buddies had a Red one, and another very nearby had a Maroon one.
Bidding will surely go much higher on this car, I think.
Bidding on this Ebay item has already ended at $1000.00. Ad must have been pulled.
The person probably realized a couple grand rebuild equals mega bucks .
This is a sweeet car and the R and four banger makes it’s super desirable! 😉
Posted as a fishing expedition
Well he certainly didn’t wait for the “big one” to bite. Pulled a one grand; something is FISHY. Sorry, had to say it.
Top bid before the premature end of the auction appears to have been $27K
Somebody made a deal either over the phone / ebay message / in person locally. I hope they got a sweet deal.

Being only the second owner of this R-code,”ram-air”shaker beast,I would keep it too, lots of goodies here!
A genuine factory hot rod if there ever was one. I really like this car, the way it looks now and hopefully this menace will return to action and not become another trailer queen.
Guy’s a flipper. Here’s another Mustang he had for sale. I’d rather have it than the Mach I.

It was his tough luck his flip seized on him before he could unload it for even bigger bucks.
