Rain or Shine: 1967 Ford F-250 Highboy Survivor

Sometimes, a survivor speaks for itself—even if the photos don’t. That’s the case with this 1967 Ford F-250 Highboy, an original paint, rust-free example that the seller claims is one of just 199 produced according to its Marti Report. It’s listed here on eBay by a private seller and located somewhere in the U.S., though the exact mileage is unknown.

The truck was recently pulled from storage, and unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate for a clean photo shoot. Still, what’s visible under the raindrops and poor lighting is promising. The seller notes that the better photos—taken a year ago—show the truck rubbed down in boiled linseed oil to preserve the factory finish. That patina is a badge of honor for many vintage truck enthusiasts.

It’s described as completely rust-free, which, if true, makes it even more desirable. The seller hasn’t listed the engine specs, but the VIN decodes to a 1967 F-250 4×4 built at the San Jose plant. As a Highboy, it rides on a factory lift with a divorced transfer case, giving it the taller stance and heavy-duty driveline that off-road fans and collectors love.

There’s also mention of some trim installation being completed before the recent photos were taken, so it’s possible that the truck is more complete now than it appears in the rainy shots. No underhood or interior photos are included, but the seller claims to have a “book full” of information for serious buyers.

The listing reads more like a feeler ad than a firm offer, and the seller admits they’re away for a few weeks due to work. Still, they seem open to answering questions from interested parties and note a strong eBay feedback score as a reflection of their credibility.

Original-paint, rust-free Highboys are getting harder to find, especially with documentation like a Marti Report backing them up. Whether you’re looking for a preservation-class pickup or a base for a period-correct build, this ’67 Ford could be a solid place to start—assuming it checks out in person.

Would you leave the patina and drive it as-is, or restore it back to showroom glory?

Fishing expedition. “This listing is more or less to see if there is interest.”

From the way the front end is sticking up I’m guessing there is no engine in there.

eBay photo #6 shows a correct-looking engine with recent ignition work.

I would Drive it and one by one restore it until all that’s left to do was paint it. This might be re-chrome some parts, put in new interior, replace any or all the engine parts. And if the other comment was right I have a 429 V/8 4 cross bolt mains NASCAR engine that might fit just right in the area.

It has a period correct big block so probably 360 or 390. Someone mentioned a fishing expedition. That’s exactly what’s going on here. Someone getting free advertising to hit the audience they wouldn’t hit otherwise. Not sure what it cost for a no sale on eBay, but it didn’t used to be anything, though I have never bought or sold a vehicle on eBay.

The Marti report says that the truck has a 352 V8 and the ebay listing shows the location as Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.
