Having created a winner with its sporty “GTO” LeMans in 1964, Pontiac made the GTO a standalone model for 1966. This 1967 Pontiac GTO in Columbus, New Jersey comes to market here on eBay, looking highly stock and straight. The never-restored specimen features a Buy It Now price of $42,000. At least seven bidders have driven the market value above $32,000, making the Buy It Now tempting for someone who really wants this imperfect but promising example. It runs and drives “well,” according to the seller, and the listing documents numerous features and options on this original California car.
The venerable 389 cid (6.4L) V8 gained bore for a total of 400 cid (6.6L) for 1967. This numbers-matching YR code 400 made 360 HP, the highest of three GTO options that year.
It would be hard to dispute the claimed 42,000 miles looking at this interior. The console and “8 Ball” shifter catch your eye immediately. Anyone not satisfied with the stock horsepower could easily add more. It’s only money! Credit the seller with providing plenty of detail and photographs. This is no flipper car, folks; the seller has owned this highly original Pontiac for about 20 years!
Though almost identical to the 1966 GTO visually, taillights and other details do differ. Redline tires and red fender liners were available from the factory. Thanks to wikipedia.org for some details. As a new-born gear-head, my first automobile ride (home from the hospital) happened in a nearly identical car, though I believe my folks’ “Goat” had no ram-air and a three-speed manual. That was in New Jersey too! This car was originally Signet Gold.
The stacked headlights bracket a sinister grille with large “G T O” letters immediately recognizable even in the rearview mirror. Have you ever had a close encounter with a GTO?
Great looking car and I don’t think the price is to far off the mark!! Well kept for a lot of years!!
I like the clowns bit in the vendors comments
Way too much money! Too many better for less. Looks like a damaged rear bumper, vinyl top separating, no idea of the bottom!
How many were factory Ram Air cars with documentation?
Steve R
I believe 751 were Ram air but, I’ve never seen one in person. The number has to be very low I’m guessing.
Nice original car.
Previous owner swapped out rear end + trans .Must of wanted to win at every traffic light.
4:33 gears must leap the car to life on the quarter mile.
Price is fair considering original ram air car + engine..
Buy it + drive it.. Have fun
I don’t want to stir up a controversy, but if it were to be mine (and it’s NOT!), the dog-dish caps would not make the ride home – not even on the trailer!
Seems rear ends were a routine R/R back in the day!

Actually, I’m old! I remember when they were new. If it’s a 360 car, I believe YA code, the rear end would be 12-bolts, same as Chevelle. That’s a rock solid rear end. U joints were a disaster! Pinion snubbers snapped, too much driveshaft play. You’re correct, the ultimate wheel/tire combo would be rally ll and redlines.
Engine code should be XS. Also, no GTO came with a 12 bolt rear end until 1970, and then, only the 455.
Yep, YS is a 335hp automatic car (base engine). If you look close it does have the 670 heads and super rare HO exhaust manifolds though. My guess is the 4:33 gears ate the motor. I think what you have here is a ram air Vin car that has had several key parts replaced.
1/8th mile gear. These motors weren’t high rev.
I have a ’67 ram air car, but I made it that way, you can buy the stamped ram air pan from Year One. I agree with the previous comment, price is fair. These ’67 Ram Air cars are pretty rare. Not 100% sure but I think if you ordered it the parts came in the trunk and the dealer installed the grille, air cleaner, and foam….
Had 2 67 GTO’s,, The convertible had a 360 HP engine,,thought they came standard in a convertible because of the excessive weight, but I may be wrong. The hardtop had a 335 HP if I’m not mistaken.
This is a really beautiful car, I love all of the 64-67 GTO’s. I would definitely want to look at it in person though. Looking at both sides, the surfaces don’t look particularly even and the panel fit and gaps aren’t very good. A magnet would definitely by helpful. There is also some rust showing up along both of the rear wheel openings and the bottom of the rear window. Can’t tell what’s under the vinyl top, but I would definitely want to investigate why the headliner along the passenger side C-panel looks so different from the one along the driver side (they’re visible in the interior shots). With the exception of the bubbling visible on some body surfaces and the panel fitment these irregularities might well be artifacts of the photos. Especially for the body panels – silver is difficult to make appear even in photographs. But, for certain and for the price, and given that no underside photos are provided, a personal inspection would be important.
Looks like manual brakes and steering, don’t see AC, smog pump removed as it’s a California car, geared Very specifically for acceleration contests, ram air, it goes on and on…..maybe it was played with at the track a little but to me it seems like a stoplight to stoplight terror or even an actual street racer. Life with 4.33 gears would be a case of nerves with the engine literally screaming along at any highway speeds.
The chrome air cleaner lid and valve covers make the rest of the engine look very aged. Only thing that’s missing are the mag wheels and serious tires in the rear. Great old GTO, for go go go.
I don’t know about this Goat. Something doesn’t sound right, IMHO.
And where’s the wood steering wheel?
You can find a cleaner car, for as much, or less, money.
“Deluxe steering wheel” was not wood, it is the one in the car. This is a factory ram air car. Yes, there are nicer GTO’s for this money (I have one), but they are not documented ram air cars which are as much as a 50% premium. Mecums sold one for $110k.
Agree with the comment about the potential condition of the engine. I have a 3.42 posi in my 454 Super Sport Monte and at 70 mph. I’m at 3,000 rpm on the tach. I can only imagine what that car is taching at 70.
3:55 – 3:73 was always a good street or x way gear
4:33 rear in this Gto you can start off in 3rd or gear no problem..
I had 4:56 in my 67 with a big block chevelle.
Any gear below
4:10
4:33
4:56
Not your daily commute to work on x way gear🤣🤣
Does anyone know if the 67 gto sold + sales price
Auction ended with a final bid of $32,350.00
