Domestic pickup trucks are fascinating vehicles to me, mostly because you can spec them out in so many ways that aren’t obvious in the sales brochures. Take this 1986 Chevy K30 Silverado: not only is it a desirable quad-cab, dually axle truck, it also comes with the Camper Special package, a 454 / Turbo Hydromatic combo, “Big Dooley” package, HD suspension, and a beefed up cooling system and rear end. That’s just part of this desert survivor’s charm, and you’ll find it here on eBay listed at no reserve.
The “Big Dooley” package gave the Chevy the two-tone paint you see here, and it remains in excellent condition thanks to its lifetime residence in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. The truck is massive, with an interior and bed capable of swallowing all of your friends and their gear. The seller says it remains highly original, including the paint.
The interior remains in fantastic condition with no obvious flaws to report. Despite all of that room for passengers, I don’t think this Silverado spent much time hauling folks around. The seller notes an uncracked dash, reupholstered front bench, door panels in nice shape, and original radio. The headliner is missing, presumably for the next owner to replace.
Bringing a family of six to home games and practices in a rig like this makes having multiple children more appealing. The Chevy will likely look like a good investment in a few years if the appeal of vintage trucks continues to rise, especially ones that are as well equipped as this one. Bidding is over $6K right now; where do you think it will end up?
No wait,I take that back,,,HERE’S your Barn Finds shop truck. Can drag that trailer full of classics to the shop, entertain prominent guests with the 4 door, classic as it gets, and a nice truck to boot. BF’s shop truck!!! One word of caution, they ride like lumber wagons. Not having ever ridden on a lumber wagon, IDK about that, but this is nothing more than a straight truck disguised as a pickup, and will ride accordingly.
Now, how cool isn’t this truck! You get Suburban seat capacity with the utility of a K10 bed – and with the 454 running dual 4.10 cogs you get fuel consumption of a full size rig!
As ‘senseless’ this beast would be for grocery-getting duties I cannot help but to love it
People would be angry because you take up two parking spaces but this truck needs two parking spaces!
How big is it? It has its own ZIP code!
This truck is so big it has its own entourage.
The big brother of the 86 C-10 that was featured earlier. This truck is one sharp looking rig.
God Bless ‘Murica!
…and also sub-$3 gasoline for this gorgeous old beast.
Someone is going to really enjoy what this truck can do except pas gas stations. I love mine (with a diesel).
Awesome rig. I have no actual use for it, but I want it all the same! Something is going on with the back seat rest of the front bench, springs maybe.
Check out the left coast weather. Truck appears to be on Mare Island. Old WW ll Flying boat base. Great truck. I had a coworker who owned one. 10 mpg on a good day.
Oh, man. I would commute to work in this and take up two spots in my parking garage.
Nice rig, but fuel mileage,..ouch! A new truck spec’d out like this would probably run north of 60K.
More like north of $80-90k these days.
$8500 now in its way to $15k is my guess.Problem is that just about every panel needs some work, and I’m the type that needs to do that.Bye,bye original paint plus as much cash as you paid for the truck.Sucks the fun out of it.
Not rare at all in Albuquerque. I wish they would stay out of the McDs drive up line.
Nice truck for its age I hope they get enough for it from someone who will really respect it. Too bad the hood didnt age as well as the rest of the paint work.
Really wish I had seen this before buying my SUV that gets great gas mileage.
Rare ? Not quite ! These trucks were and are all over the place . These trucks are for real men and they can haul alot of weight .if you want a car ride get a 2wd . Depending on the gears is where your milage was, 456’s pulled hills and stumps as 373’s cruised at 75 with over 12mpg (while towing a truck). So bash n trash all you want but the 4wd bigblock square bodys were stronger then the cheap expensive rot boxes of today with less problems to boot (computers ,body control modules etc) . The 4wd never broke down like the new ones do, no electric parts . All the new trucks rust in 5 years (northern areas) never seen an 80s truck bumper rot off the truck but my 05 did ! So to me and many others this truck is a bargan if it has no rust . Milage is nothing to these trucks as it has proven its test of time.
Beautiful truck is it still available
