While cleaning out his Father-in-law’s garage, Gaylon S discovered this Oldsmobile parked in the barn. After getting it out of the barn and cleaned up, they discovered it was in amazing condition. It’s running and driving but needs a new home. You can take a closer look at it via the link below!

Asking Price: $12,500
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Title Status: Clean
VIN: 567K9952

Seller’s Description: Belongs to my Father in law. Was put in the care home and when cleaning out his property we found this in the garage. He had a shop in Wichita rebuild the engine and transmission. Not sure when the last time he drove it. Guessing about 1.5 years ago.

Body Condition: Body is in great condition. No rust that we can see. Undercarriage looks clean also. Can send additional pictures if needed.

Mechanical Condition: Runs and Drives great. I drove it to town from his place in a small town in eastern Kansas. It handles very nicely on the highway.

We want to thank Gaylon for listing his Father-in-laws Oldsmobile with us and we hope they can find a good home for it! If you have a classic stashed away in your barn, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!

Very nice Olds you have there Gaylon! Too bad I don’t have the funds to buy it.
If I did, it would have a nice home under
my carport here in Florida and be driven
and enjoyed for what it is–a true survivor.
Good luck with your sale. From what I’ve
seen, you won’t have it long!

Family lore says that my grandfather had one of these. As a teen, my father took it out and floored it at one stoplight and was ticketed at the next at a high rate of speed. My grandfather did not believe it could possibly accelerate that quickly, so he went out very early the following morning and tried it. Sure enough, the cop was right. It was a quick car for its day.

And here I was expecting you to say the same cop ticketed him…

Nice car.It always amazes me when I see one of these and the hood is lifted and the first thing I is the nice big original Bat Winf Air Cleaner is gone and a crappy little Vienna Sausage can is stuck on the Carb. Hey I am an Old Geezer too but who does this it is amazaing when you kick it it can get enough air to move LOL.Maybe it is hidden under the junk in the garage. It does appear to probably be a 2 barrel which would not have the Bat Wing but would be proportionate. Hate those little crappy things unless they are on a multi-carb setup manifold. Demeaning appearing to such a powerful engine. Guess it is a Geezer thing but nice car

Nice car and although the 2dr. Hardtops were great looking being a 4dr. doesn’t hurt this one too much. Enjoy the hobby while you are able is a testament to the sad story of the man who OWNS the car.

Talk about memories. My first car was a 1956 Olds 88. The whole car looked like a washboard and a mid-western rust bucket all at the same time. The good part was that it only cost me $10. You get what you pay for.

    Classic Steel and Mjlaw:
I hope you or none of your close relatives every suffer the pain of having to be placed in a care facility and needing funds to be cared for. Making snarky comments does nothing to help the family’s situation but only lower you’re your standing.

I have been there with family and also been or seen relatives to friends of family show up that we’re astranged but when money was involved they were first inline to take and take with no concern for family member including changing their wills in their mid nineties ..

So yes the old lines of never buy a car from a relative or watch out if your old of been taken advantage of….because it happens

Most states allow those in nursing homes to keep their main estate but they raid the cash.
Sell this car and guess who is inline for cash.

Yes, it happens, but snarky comments are still not edifying when the family is in the room. So we will agree to disagree?

I had a great uncle (my grandmothers uncle) who suffered from Alzheimer’s. We moved him from his home to my grandmothers home, which was 2 blocks from our house. My last two years of high school I basically lived at my grandmothers house to help her take care of my uncle. Before he passed, we started cleaning out his house some. Most of the stuff was junk, having been destroyed by a non housebroken dog he had. Yes I had to help clean up that mess! One of the things that was salvaged, and passed to me, was some of his tools (he was a steam fitter) so I inherited a bunch of solid pipe wrenches. However, they were quite rusted, so it took some effort to dissolve the rust, wire brush them clean, then reassemble them. After he passed, a cousin who rarely showed their face (even tho they were local) put in an appearance. Namely to grab the tools! Too bad, they were all at my house!!! He started getting inquisitive as to what shape they were in, and flat out stated that he “needed” those wrenches for use at his house, and was glad to hear that they were fixed and in good condition. Went as far as to tell me when he would stop by and pick them up!!! Almost 40 years later, and a few moves since then, and they are still in my possession!

So yeah, the “family” went to clean out their dads estate, and “found” his car. If they had been around before, they would have known it was there all along… So, I’m with classic on this one…

Now THIS is a super barn find! Wish I lived closer. My dad had a 55 four door sedan and the colors were very close to this. As little as I was, I still remember it.

    Andy,
This is Gaylon’s father-in-law. How long has Gaylon and his wife been married? What if it has been 3 months after a short engagement, and he had not met the family because he met his wife to be while at college across the state?
We don’t know any details, none, but you agree with Classic steel that it is alright to insult someone to their face without knowing the details. What has our society degenerated to? If you really think the worse case scenario is happening here and they are just out to rob the old man that they haven’t seen in thirty years wouldn’t it be best to just pass and go to the next car without insulting someone you don’t know anything about? I’m just saying we don’t know.

At 18, I became the proud owner of my grandfather’s 1956 Olds 98 4 door, white over light blue, given to me for graduation. He and my grandmother had taken my sister and I for many vacations in it when we were kids and I loved it. Along with the car being given to me, along with it came a small spiral notebook in which every penny that he had spent on it was listed from over the years. What a beauty! Unfortunately, I went directly into the Army and couldn’t afford to baby it as he had; wish I had it back now!
