READER AD: 1967 Rambler Rogue

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This Rambler Rogue has some bumps and bruises but looks to be in decent shape. Reader Jeremy D bought it when he was just 15 years old and has been working on it ever since. The original engine has been swapped for the bullet-proof AMC 258 inline 6, which has been upgraded to give it a little more punch. Jeremy has put about 15k miles on it since doing the swap and has enjoyed it, but he just purchased an AMC Eagle so this one needs to go. He’s asking $4,000 or best offer and it’s currently located in Portland, Oregon. If you have any questions or would like to make him an offer, be sure to take a closer look at it via the link below.

Asking Price: $4,000
Location: Portland, Oregon
Title Status: Clean

Seller’s Description: I’ve been the second owner of this car since I was 15 when I bought it from my grandparent’s neighbor. It has a mildly hopped up 258 inline 6 (small cam, headers, dual exhaust, HEI ignition, intake, 4 bbl carb), and if that’s not enough, it’s a gold (bronze?) Rambler! Would benefit from TLC both inside and out.

Body Condition: Various dents, dings, creases, and discoloration throughout the car. Due to the scarcity of parts, both front fenders are from a ’66, as is the grille (’67 Rogues have year-specific wrap-around chrome). There is no rust, and all glass is great. Seats were redone in 2001, and I pulled the carpet before I realized the AMC vendors don’t sell the correct shade of green I am looking for in pre-cut kits. I do have new-in-box under-carpet insulation and firewall padding, however. The gauge cluster is from a ’69 (mileage is not accurate), and I installed a full Pioneer stereo with 4 speakers, hands-free calling, Bluetooth, USB, etc.

Mechanical Condition: Roughly 15,000 miles since complete engine/tranny rebuild/install. The engine is a 258 I6 from an ’83 Concord and features a Holley 390 4bbl carb, Offenhauser aluminum intake, Clifford headers with full dual exhaust and Turbo mufflers, plus HEI ignition and a small cam. Tranny is an AMC 904 automatic rebuilt by AAMCO, with receipt, from same year Concord. Also has 10″ front disc brakes, sway bar, tranny cooler, and V8-size radiator.

The Rambler Rogue was offered with a variety of engines, but there’s no word what was original in this car. The 258 inline six is a great engine and should offer decent performance in such a lightweight car. Finding parts for it could be a challenge, but it looks to be in good shape overall. It’s going to need carpets and you probably won’t have much luck finding the correct color, but we were able to find black and tan carpet sets. So, will you be cruising town in this cool little Rambler?

Dammit Jeremy, if you lived a lot closer to
me, we’d be having a beer before you give
me the keys and the title! How can you bear to part with it? It’s very rare to hear
of someone still driving the first car they’d ever bought. I’ll bet that thing’s a
real blast to drive with.that hopped up
258 under the hood! And how did you
manage to ditch that god awful torque
tube driveline when you swapped in the
904 Torqueflite tranny? And whole I have
many more questions, I’ll just say that you have a very nice ride there and wish
you good luck on the sale. BTW, I’ll still
be here when you want a portrait painted
of it when you get a case of regrets.

The American never had a torque tube driveline, it was always leaf springs with an open driveshaft. You’re thinking of the “big” Ramblers, however in 1967 the new AMC Rebel/Ambassador debuted which finally did away with the torque tube setup once and for all.

      I agree Wolfram.

But sometimes money or lack there of wins out.
I still have my first car(truck). Glad I never got rid of it. I’m sixteen every time I jump back in the seat. Had to make a few sacrifices here or there to keep it though.
My much younger buddy had a 69 Galaxie he still talks about, often actually. But he goes through 1 or 2 cars a year so I don’t think he actually misses it.
Some people just aren’t like us. And I cant blame them. Its starting to look like a used car lot at my house!
But either way, cool looking ride.

I think the missing badges on the rear fenders were to indicate the optional 232 ” six.

Here’s an example.New, the area that says “232” had a red back ground.

    Nice car.

My own 63 Valiant has been with me since 1981. This must be real hard for you, Jeremy.

Looking at all the photos. Is there not 1 part of the entire car not have a dent or ding? Mostly dents I see. Still a nice car if you just needed a car like for a winter beater???

This thing was for sale over a year ago as well. Sorry to say, but he will never get anywhere close to 4 grand for it.
