We’ve all been in the same situation as reader Nate R. He bought this unique Cadillac Ambulance with plans to restore it, but shortly after getting it, another project popped up that he just couldn’t miss out on. A year and a half later and the realization has set in that there’s just not enough hours in the day to restore both. Rather than let this one deteriorate, he’s decided it’s time to let it go. It looks to be a very complete car and even comes with some of the medical equipment! Halloween is just around the corner, so this could be a fun one to have parked in the driveway. If you’d like to have it, be sure to check out his eBay auction via the link below!
Location: Toms River, New Jersey
Mileage: 66,000
Title Status: Clean
VIN: Z0207800
Seller’s Description: Vintage car based Ambulance and there aren’t many left in existence.
Body Condition: A complete vehicle with many hard to find components. All glass is present and intact, trim pieces are present, has working siren and emergency lighting, (some of the warning lights work intermittently) Interior is in good to fair condition according to its age. medical equipment will be included in the sale.
The body and frame have a considerable rust. Unfortunately, the rear bumper was damaged when it was removed from its garage to be taken to the trailer for transport to New Jersey. It will require extensive work to bring back to its glory days.
Mechanical Condition: Starts runs, shifts into gear and drives. It is happiest on the highway at 55 MPH in comparison to traveling around town, expect a good amount of rattles, road noise, and minimal fuel economy, so you definitely won’t want to use it as your daily driver. When the fuel tank is full it may leak (don’t overfill it), leaks transmission fluid, does not have working heat. The car can be problematic at times, simply will not start (noticed this after has been running for some time). Heat is not operational. Has working headlamps, turn signals, horn, and wipers though.

These Superior conversions really are cool and you don’t come across them every day. Nate’s example is going to be a big project, but having all the custom bits is a huge deal, as you can’t just buy them at the local parts store. Thankfully, the Cadillac supplied parts are fairly easy to come by, so it wouldn’t be impossible to restore this one. We want to thank Nate for listing this one with us and we hope it goes to a good home. If you have an interesting project that you just can’t finish, please consider listing it right here on Barn Finds!

What a shame it has so much rust.
It does, however, have some rare emergency equipment on it.
This made me think of the movie “Mother, Jugs and Speed”.
Made me think ” Ghostbusters “.
No. Ghostbusters was based on a 1959 Miller-Meteor, an entirely different rig. But thanks for being that one guy who just had to say “Ghostbusters”. There’s always one in every crowd….
Dave, I was trying to be polite by not saying anything.
That reference gets tiring.
A lot of good cars have been changed from original trying to make them look like the Ecto-1
Yes, that would be the most accurate reference!
I bought a 46K mile 1970 Hearse from a funeral home for 600 bucks. Intended on using the 472 and turbo 400 for a street rod project. Not a high RPM engine but makes incredible torque. Torque is king on the street.
It was in such great shape I could not bring myself to rob the drive train.
I offered it to my wife at the time as a Cadillac station wagon for her to haul the kids around in. That didn’t work out well…
Fun car and would use all of the 120 mph speedometer with ease. Had a heavy duty leaf spring rear suspension and would haul anything you wanted to load in it. It was like a luxury Suburban.
You could rent it out for weddings.
paint “Just Buried” on the back.
If the couple can survive that, they can survive anything.
When I offered my hearse to my uncle for the same, his future wife shot it down.
I never liked her.
It sure is a shame ‘his future wife’ didn’t understand you….
It’s a shame she just could not ‘get’ your sense of humor Miguel…
Lol on the ” that didn’t work out well” ! Sounds like a great idea to me.
Kudos to the poster for under-car pics and an honest listing! What a shame about the underside. Would not pass inspection here in NY.
I find it a bit ironic, you have an ambulance with holes in the floor and an exhaust that exits under the car, and what appears to be a gas leak on a newer tank, and clearly, an unsafe frame. What, you gonna drive this behemoth around? Better ways to spend your money, really.
