READER AD: 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

Now this find looks like fun! Reader Joe W has decided to part ways with his well documented and beautiful Chevelle SS 454. It has been well cared for and maintained since it was delivered new to Rudolph Chevrolet in El Paso, Texas. Over the years, it’s seen a respray in its original color combo and the engine has been given a full rebuild with an upgraded cam. The car is otherwise original and is ready to be driven! You can find it here on eBay and in Thousand Oaks, California.

While the engine was out for the rebuild, Joe checked the numbers and it appears that it is a warranty replacement 454 LS5. This was a common occurrence with these high output muscle cars. He also had an LS6 spec cam installed, which should give this already powerful engine a little extra oomph. With 365 horsepower on tap, it’s not like an LS5 is weak, but no one has ever said that their muscle car needed less power!

Given that it’s covered just 55k miles since new, the interior is looking really good. Much of it is said to be factory original. It looks like the seat might have a new cover on it, but I’d rather have a nice new cover than a worn-out one anyways. Overall, it looks like a nice place to spend some time and rowing through the gears is going to be fun!

Joe’s Chevelle sure is one mean looking machine! It’s a great color combo, has the right engine and transmission, and lots of important documentation. I know I’d enjoy having it, but how about you? If you’d love to have it, be sure to take a closer look at it and bid!

    Its nice.people will say “it’s not a 70″….I had a 68 and a 70 and my brother had a 69 convertible..I liked the 69 better..I’d take a 71 or 72 also..see I’m not picky..lol🤣

Such a nice car, love the color, Motor, hate the bench seat, have to find a console and buckets, vintage air and it’s perfect

Thanks John. It’s mine and it is a great car. Should really be seen in person to be appreciated. Some people don’t like the bench seat but its very comfortable and its original to the car. Just think of your honey being able to cozy up next to you while your running that Hurst shifter through the gears.

Living in old dusty El Paso for most of my 65 years I got a real kick seeing this add. You see, I live with in a mile of Rudolph Chevrolet , it’s still a major car dealership in El Paso ,bought several trucks and cars from them.
Now as for the Chevelle 70 to 72 are my favorite, most people like the 70 the most , but to me the single headlight 71/72 looks cleaner and the taillights are just plain corvette looking cool!

Price? I’ve been down this road and I hope you are realistic about the market. That being said ,nice ride and good luck with the sale.

Didn’t even notice the ebay listing link, whoops. Too busy thinking about how much time and money I spent on my ’71 orange and black same configuration, except no power steering. Complete disappointment at the lack of interest in what I thought was a nice restoration( looked as good as this one). Again , hope you do better with yours than I did with mine.
