Alright, so Chris D’s Mercury isn’t a survivor by any means, but this is one heck of a machine! It’s been gone through and given some fun upgrades. The 351W V8 has a functional shaker hood, is paired with a Tremec 5-speed and a Posi rear end. This Montego has to really get up and go! That is one sweet build and the pictures back the Seller’s claims. It’s a killer 1 of 1 custom that’s for sure. I don’t see how the Seller doesn’t have more than 23K invested. That will be a well-bought acquisition for the new owner.

On closer inspection looking at the rear portion of passenger front fender just in front of where it meets the door, I don’t see the Snake or Boss 429 decals. Maybe it’s the glare.

Look at his ad, second picture. Very easy to see the Cobra and BOSS 429 right below it. And even though it’s not an actual 429CJ, that 351 Windsor has a lot of go fast additions that would make this sucker a Blast! For $14k, someone is going to get a smokin 1 of 1 custom Merc. GLWTA

Nice car. It really does need a 429 under the hood though. Going to have to spend more than the cost of that fender decal to make it happen. $23k invested so far does seem low.

It would help the seller took more pics of the car.

Never thought I would see a 1973 Mercury Montego and think “wow, that’s pretty cool!” — but that’s one of the great things about this site.

A clean and interesting build…and I imagine the decals come off easily!

I love these and the Ford Grand Torino Sport, this is a great deal well worth the cost to build. $14,000 wish I had the money would be fun

Nice car except get rid of those yellow headlights! If it needs fog lights put them under the bumper where they belong! I think that, that’s a east coast thing!

When I got my driver’s license, I got to drive my Dad’s custom ordered ’75 Montego. He liked the Cougar’s level of equipment, but didn’t like the Cougar. So he custom ordered a Montego MX Brougham with every conceivable option except one of the better engines. (Ours had a 351M) Still, I loved that car!

This one is to different tastes than mine, but still represents a lot of what the 16 year old me might have done. Best of luck to the seller!

Very nice machine, and it’s a Mercury, that would be something different in its own right.
Why the Boss 429 decals? Don’t have one, so why advertise it. Kinda reverse psychology, scare off the competition instead. With that Shaker scoop an those wheels and overall menacing dark looks it’s no sleeper anyways. Nice ride.

The Boss 429 never came with a Shaker hood scoop, anyway…

You’re absolutely right, the Boss ‘nine Mustang came with a much better hood scoop, maybe one of the best as far as function goes from back then.

My friend had a 73 montego gt that was factory equipped with the 351 cobrajet and top loader four speed. I did not realize that you could get a four speed in such a beast! The motor was factory equipped with four bolt mains ,dual point distro, and other go fast stuff. It was pretty cool for a ford! This one is nice as well.
