This 1976 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Cheyenne looks to be in very nice shape and, based on the current market for Square Body goodness, priced reasonably in the listing here on eBay out of Castle Rock, Colorado.
Sporting a two-tone paint scheme that looks an awful lot like the Sheriff’s truck in the movie “Jaws”, this iconic four-wheel-drive is from a much simpler, bygone time.
The seller tells us that the 350 engine runs well, the transmission has been rebuilt, and that the Blazer is nearly totally stock / unaltered original otherwise, save for the newer chrome rims. We can see that it has power brakes and steering, along with what appears to be an aftermarket sunroof. The seats have seen better days, but let’s be realistic – they are 43 years old.
I myself have owned three of these Blazers over the years, all of which were the Military version, the M1009. They were all diesel and had varying degrees of mechanical and body-rot needs. This 1976 here, though, looks absolutely amazing and, if it’s as good in person as it looks in the pictures, the $7,500 asking price is a steal! I wish mine had been in half as good of shape as this civilian one! Have you owned one? Got a good story about one?
I had a 2 wheel drive 1975 Blazer, inline 6, 3 on the tree, factory heat delete. That was a really cold ride in the winter lol! In the summer, I would keep the top off all summer long. Vinyl seats & floors, I figured no harm, no foul.
This was during my college years. I went to the salvage yard & bought a center console for it to hold my beer. I didn’t attach said console to the floor properly so I could pour out the ice after it melted (you thought I was joking about the console holding my beer lol). I would go bar hopping on the weekends instead of study (still got straight “A”s) & have a few between bars. Would just toss them behind me on the floor of the cargo area (no back seat). Eventually, it filled up lol. The “dead ones” would fall out as I would drive with the top off. I started to hate fruit flies lol. So I opened the tailgate & popped the clutch a few times to get rid of the cans. It worked, but the fruit flies stayed. I ran it through the local car wash a couple times with the top off. Couldn’t get rid of those fruit flies lol. Finally I loaned the beast to my cousin who told me he knew how to drive a straight shift. He didn’t. Truck ended up impounded & I let it sit. I really miss that truck though. Great times in a great truck!
