Considering the Chevrolet Camaro is now out of production, and the availability of affordable new petrol-powered muscle cars is dwindling, $36,000 seems like a reasonable price to pay for this 1981 Camaro, especially with the amount of work that has already been done here. Even after a close inspection of the photos, I’m not seeing anything here that looks like it needs much further attention, and that raised hood should be a strong hint that this is no ordinary eighties F-Body when it comes to performance. Reader Hans H. spotted this cool Chevy here on Facebook Marketplace in Plainfield, Illinois, and we want to express our gratitude to him for sending in the tip here!

Under that bulging hood is a 350, but there isn’t much ordinary about it to report. On top sits a Weiand 144 supercharger, a unit that provides a substantial boost while keeping small blocks streetworthy. The performance upgrades don’t stop here, as this one also features some Edelbrock products, including a cam and aluminum heads. The exhaust flows through Summit headers into Flowmaster mufflers, with an electric fan keeping the radiator cool. The Turbo 350 automatic transmission has received a shift kit, and the 3.73 gears out back were probably a good choice for this application.

Another real positive here is that this one looks as strong as it runs, with the seller stating that the car was restored in 2016. It must have been in fine shape to begin with, as the body is said to have not received any work, just a new professional paint job. The panels are claimed to be rust-free, and I have to agree with the owner that this one is indeed beautiful on the outside. One question worth asking concerns the wheels and tires, as two different sets are shown in the pictures, so I’d make sure it’s clarified which ones you’ll be receiving before finalizing the deal.

The interior is also said to have been completely redone, and while things inside aren’t particularly fancy, the condition appears to be excellent overall. I’m also liking that the seller confirms this one’s a turnkey, ready-to-drive car, with no needs other than a new owner. He also mentions possible trades plus cash, such as a square-body truck, a wagon, or perhaps a panel van, so maybe you all can work out a partial swap if you happen to have one of these. For my tastes, I’m feeling this 1981 Chevrolet Camaro was done just right, and I’d be happy with it exactly as-is, sitting in my garage most of the time. What are your thoughts here?

Another FB ad…move along…
Well, more cars are listed on Facebook than craigslist and eBay combined so I don’t think it’s going anywhere. Might as well get signed up and start enjoying Marketplace.
I and alot of car guys/gals want nothing to do with Zuckerbergs data sharing business…just sayin’
You could just continue to, foolishly, resist joining Facebook (and missing out on 99% of what is out there for sale and the only true, free marketplace left).
But, since you probably won’t ever actually buy an old car anyway, it doesn’t really matter.
Dang. Not having access to ads on FB marketplace means you’re probably missing out on 80% of all the used/old/project car ads on the planet, as well as gigatons of other stuff. It’s worth opening a (free) account just for marketplace. You don’t ever have do anything with your personal page if you don’t want to, so Zuck doesn’t have to be in your personal business.
Are you saying that because you can’t see the ad? I’m not on FB and I can just click out of the sign in popup and then view the ad.
Maybe you get two sets of wheels..a pair on the right and a pair on the left. Who’s going to notice? Also, I once had an ’80 Camaro and all I can say is, with those big heavy doors , don’t pull on the inside handle too hard after getting in.
The problem with featuring Facebook ads, the link won’t open because I’m not a member.
The asking price is pretty aggressive, it looks like a base Camaro that’s been modified, unlike first and early second generation strong interest typically doesn’t extend beyond the Z28. There is a lot of choices at that price level, potential buyers will need to love everything about this car as it sits to justify the spend.

Ummmmm…just join Facebook? Or, are you one of those flat-earthers too?
I won’t use facebook either due to strong convictions. Have bought dozens of cars without it. And yes the earth is round and the moon isn’t made of cheese!
No need to be a dick, if that’s the only response you have keep it to yourself.

See my response to the first post. I’m not on FB and can view most of the ads listed here. Only sometimes it’s blocked.
I used to experience the same yet a couple months ago I was able to see anything using the links, I still don’t have an account and can look at everything.
Beautiful ’80’s ride…needs raised up in the rear end, a set of big, fat tires in the rear and skinnies in the front on some Cragar S/S’s. A base Camaro has no real high-dollar collectible value so, it’s a fun car to just hot rod and modify the crap out of.
I strongly urge no one to join Facebook and, those that are on Facebook, please delete your accounts…that way, I can buy all of the awesome cars that pop up and you guys won’t even know they’re out there, let alone for sale…and cheaper than anywhere else!
“no need to be a dick” as Steve R says above!!
Yes let’s try to keep this post dickless today.
cannot get on F/B unless you have a video selfie which is utterly stupid imo. his car has way too much going on for me. you would be lucky to see over that ridiculous hood.
Lose the stripes. They don’t belong on a rubber bumper Camaro. Seller is asking far too much for this car. Much better and faster cars out there for the price.
