Roadside Find: 1967 Olds Toronado

1967 Oldsmobile Toronado

The Oldsmobile Toronado just celebrated its 50th birthday the other day and as a result we have been receiving a lot of submissions containing examples of this unique car. This one was spotted by one of our readers in Tiverton, Rhode Island. It obviously needs paint, but the seller is only asking $3,500 so it might be a good buy. Keep reading to view the “For Sale” sign details. Thanks goes to Espresso Jack for sending this in!

As you must know by now, this car never came with a 455 motor. The ’66 & ’67 were powered by a 425 cu.in. engine. The larger one came in 1968 models. 30 inches should not make much difference to the buyer other than if it is, originality!

Maybe its a “marko” (not technically a “typo” having used a marker!) Just trying to find a cheap laugh. You are right. No 455, maybe he meant to write 425 or it has had the old transplant. Either way a great deal if it is solid. IF.

I believe the 455 was also available. Check Wikipedia.

I have owned a number of these-great cars. However, if it doesn’t need much body work under the primer(which always worries me when they are primed), there is still not a lot of upside potential..just a nice driver. There are quite a few nice ones for 10g. Curious if it has a 425 and the seller just doesn’t know the difference(?)

Around 2003 I was living in a small town in upstate NY. I saw a 66-67 in a nice light green daily in a garage around the corner from where I was living. Never did see the owner.

Here is a shot of the rear, sorry I couldn’t get any decent interior shots, bad lighting. It’s on Rt. 81 North Tiverton. Looks like it would be a fun car for $3,500.

Other issues…….This ’67 car has a ’66 grille and also the wrong wheel covers. Thought you’d want too know……

Although the flush headlights and rear tail light pattern indicate a ’67 the front grille is from a ’66. As I recall both years had a 425cu in, but power was upped by 10hp to 375 for the ’67. Does anyone recall if the ’67 had hidden wipers? If so, this car could have a ’66 hood and cowl to match the 66 grille. Was a great car in its day!

Oops .. Mark already said that!
