It’s obvious this 1974 Ford Bronco needs a little work. As you can see, the driver’s fender is missing. The rocker panels and quarters have some deep rust issues. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $7,700. Located in Richmond, Virginia, there isn’t a lot of information in the ad, but with almost any first-generation Bronco, it is seeing strong bidding. If this was my project, I’d probably turn it into a rock crawling beast. What do you think? Let’s take a closer look at this project.
Do I see GM floor mats in a Bronco?! Looking past that, it appears that the carpet was an afterthought and maybe house carpet? This could easily trap moisture and may have contributed to the rust issues. The upholstery is worn but looks original. Overall, the interior should be stripped completely to see what exactly you are dealing with.
Here you can see the passenger side rocker seems to have been replaced, but the quarter is still very rusty. There are a couple of small photos of the 302 engine in the ad. It appears there are several new parts under the hood and the ad mentions a new water pump and alternator. The seller also says it runs and drives, but “needs work.”
Here you can see the driver’s side rocker is missing some metal due to rust. The tailgate also has some major areas of metal missing. The top looks decent and the new owner could re-sell that to recoup some build cost. So, after looking at this ride, what direction would you take it if it was your project? Do you see rock crawler like I do?
No, I see a re-bodied truck.
Almost 8 grand seems a little high ?
It’s being sold on a no reserve auction with an opening bid of $100. Bidders will set its value. Their opinions are the only ones that matters.

Well, with the current value of these, you’d be foolish to do anything BUT restore it( or sell it to someone that will), and triple your investment, easy,,,for some crazy reason. Like the person that made a 4×4 Pinto wagon out of one,,,D’OH!!
The body looks like it’s ready to fall off!! Re-body in my opinion is the only chance it has!! It’s worth the work considering what they bring when restored!! Going stock rebuild would probably be the least expensive using as many of the old parts that can be rebuilt!!
Oh man, The 73 Bronco me and my buddy built had a body in better shape than this one and we scrapped it and drove to Vegas to K Bar S company and bought a rust free one then trailered it all the way back to the Chicago area. This was back in the 1980s and I ended up buying it from him after it was finished and drove it until 1995 then sold it for $5,500 and it was in excellent rust free condition. These prices on the first generation Broncos is complete insanity.
