Really like 1970’s Firebirds? Here’s two for you to play with–but are they worth it? Above is a 1977 Trans Am in the iconic black and gold colors of the Bandit. The other car is a gold 1974 Formula similar to a Rockford Files car. If you want to examine them further, the original ad is here on craigslist. The cars are located in Arlington, Oregon and are priced at $5,000 for both (with clean titles).
The Trans Am looks pretty rough in this shot but is said to be the better of the two cars. It hasn’t been licensed since 1997 and has spent the last year in the seller’s barn after being purchased. The seller tells us that there is a small amount of rust through in the passenger rear quarter panel and in the driver’s side floor pan. Naturally, it doesn’t run at the moment.
This is the 1974 Formula 400 that has been sitting in a field since 1992 and comes with “LOTS OF RUST.” The seller intended this as a parts car for the Trans Am and its 1972 engine is said to run “very good” as well as having a good transmission attached to it.
Back to the Trans Am, who’s interior needs some work but that iconic turned metal dash is in there. The seller planned on having parts left over–sometimes that leads to the purchase of a third car, only to find out that some of the same components are bad on all three cars. Not that I’d know that from first hand experience…
Here’s the engine the seller says is good. I’m not sure I’d get into Firebirds from scratch with these two cars, but if you already have one or more similar cars the combination may work out nicely for you. Are any of you 70’s Firebird enthusiasts? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Two parts cars for the price of one🤔
There’s gold in thar barns hopefully for the seller to another feller 💰
I am pulling a mental Rockford and going the other direction.
I suggest 3000 for both with a no separation policy standing 👍
I totally agree
Nightmare on Elm Street.
To me, the Formula is the more valuable of the two. I guess the seller figured out what I found out when I had my 74 and 77 sitting side by side in the driveway…a lot of the body parts from the cowl forward do not interchange. I see far fewer Formulas being treated to full restorations and this one in gold would make a wonderful Rockford tribute. Shame it was relegated to “pasture parking.”
Build the Rockford!
