1968 was a good year for Mopars! The refresh of the B-body gave the Coronet and all of it’s relatives a great new look, with a more aggressive shape and stance. This Coronet looks to be pretty beat up and rough, but it’s cheap and has a 383 sitting under those massive hood scoops! It’s a 440 model, trim level not the engine, and originally was equipped with a 318, but the seller upgraded the k frame to the big block and drop the 383 in it. You can find this project here on eBay in Harrisonville, Missouri with a current bid of $1,200 and no reserve!
Between all the dents, dings and rust, it’s going to take a lot of work to get this one looking good again. If it were mine, I’d be tempted to get it running and safe to drive, but leave the body looking rough and beat up. It actually has a rather interesting look to it as is.
I see lots of surface rust, but the floors look decent, well except for the trunk floor which has a few holes. As long as there isn’t any serious structural rust, you might actually be able to leave the body alone for now and put your hard earned money into things like getting it running and replacing any missing parts. Then if you decide you like driving it and want it nice and shiny, it’s an option for down the road! So what would be your road map for this Mopar? Would you jump right in to a full restoration or would you focus on getting it running first?
To hard to look at on a Monday morning.
Ever heard the expression “rough as a cob”? This would be the definition of that.
Well, the steering wheel looks ok………..
Never fall for a big hood and a smile
Come on, that’ll just buff out…
There are 3 k-members for the 68 b body ,one is for the slant six, one for all V8 wedge and one for Hemi. Why does the floorpan look like it has salt residue ? I would , if its remarquably clean underneath , redoo the interior and mechanics and drive it as is and take my sweet time straightening out and cleaning up the sheetmetal. I would also reposition the hood scoops outboard a little to where the factory had them in 69/70.
My brother in law had a 68 Super Bee, light blue metallic, 383 4 spd, it was hopped up fast with a 4 speed that he loved to get rubber in all four gears. I had a 69 Bee emerald green, $500 nice shape, wrecked it. This one if very restorable, but keep the patina look like Rocko says, there’s a lot of blue paint that might buff out great.
Are those scoops just laying on the hood? I see light under one.
To rusty for me
definitely has a pulse! always loved the lines on the 68-70 Cornet B bodies. doesn’t look like much if any on the dutchman panel, amazing.
