This 1956 Dodge Royal Lancer is being sold by the children of the man that restored it 20 years ago. The car is currently in Guffey, Colorado and is listed here on eBay where the buy-it-now price is $10,000 but the sellers are interested in offers. The exterior is quite striking in the pictures with three-tone paint, although the ad characterizes the paint as “not the best.” The chrome looks somewhat pitted in the close-up shots, but since it looks like the car had just been rinsed off prior to the pictures, water drops may be part of the marks on the chrome. Underhood shots look very original as well, but that’s not what sets this car apart!
What an interior! That plaid would keep me awake when I was driving it for sure. Don’t get me wrong, I really like it, and I think it goes well with the exterior. The big chrome horn ring and iconic push-button transmission selector really stand out as well. I could find a home in my garage for this one – could you?
This is a great car, even with the two extra doors!
The interior is great. The upholstery is period correct if not an exact factory match. The body looks good and the paint is good enough for me to live with for a while. I hope this finds a good home.
This was a labor of love for it’s deceased owner. I’m sure it’s hard for his kids to part with it.
My wife and I were talking about that yesterday. I was sad that they were selling it; she was hopeful that they were keeping other cars that he liked more.
When my father died, we had a similar decision to make. Decided to keep the Spitfire that he restored for Mom, and sell the MGB that was his. Very hard to do.
Ultimately, I wish we had kept them both, because the Spitfire ended up being totaled in an accident (my fault).
Did they wash it with the windows down? There are water drops all over the seats. I’d assume the door and window seals will need to be replaced. Gorgeous car, though.
That is one beautiful automobile!
Looks like it didn’t sell for $10k and it’s a new seller on ebay to boot! Still, it’s a great looking car. I would rather have a ’57 Royal Lancer coupe than a ’55-56 300, personally… ^_^
