1966 was the first year for the Ford Bronco, an iconic vehicle that would be produced for 30 years. In fact, Ford is reintroducing a new version of the Bronco and it is bound to be a hit. This particular truck is an original half-cab version and can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $3050. Located in Thomson, Georgia, the ad doesn’t say anything about the history of the truck or where it has spent the last fifty years.
Unfortunately, this truck is very rusty. You can see the entire floor pan is pretty much gone. There is rust around the tailgate and door frames. The hood edge is almost completely separated. Amazingly the rocker panels, fenders, and quarter panels don’t seem too bad. A few pokes with a knife would tell the whole story though. At this point, an entire replacement pan may be in order. Also, the entire suspension and undercarriage are completely rusty. If the frame is compromised, this truck may be only good for some parts.
The ad states that the straight-six engine and three-speed transmission are numbers matching and original to the truck. It also states that the engine only turns over. If the internals are in good shape and/or rebuildable, the power-train may be the best part of this project. While the 6-cylinders were light on horsepower, they have great torque and will usually run forever.
Unfortunately, this truck is only being sold on a bill of sale. A wise buyer would do a little research on the VIN and make sure everything checks out. You may also want to check your local and state laws on the process for getting a new title and registering it. Or you could just make it into an off-road monster and never drive it on the street.
Ford numbers match? lol that’s just southern sun rash. Should buff out.
I never could figure out “numbers matching” for Fords. Far as I know, it means nothing unless for GMs for MOPARs.
Even with the prices of nice ones sky rocketing this one looks to be toast, the rust has totally taken hold. Pass !!!
I’d still take it, love these little guys! frame is what I would be concerned with…
Not too bad considering the Broncos of the Northeast USA which looked like this after about just 8 -10 years in the snow and salt.
And GA is a bill of sale state to transfer vehicles as old as this but convincing your home state’s local DMV/ county clerk officials of this might take some going however depending which Brenda is manning the desk that day…
Well, at least it doesn’t have some crazy 5 figure , regardless of condition, price tag. Half cab Bronco’s are pretty rare. If anyone had a family, they went with the full cab, and these were more for municipalities or gas stations as plow trucks. Few survived. There really was only 3 choices for that, the CJ, the Scout, or this. Maybe we’ve finally turned a corner ( when buyers actually drove one) on the insane prices for 1st gen Broncos.
I seen worse fixed and reused !!!
This is another one of those markets that has exploded to ridiculous prices. Even cancer-ridden rollers go for several thousand dollars.
just found a reasonably priced frnt bench (different color than thisun) seat 4 my 1/2 cab (‘chero frm TX) after searchin since ’83. Back then I took 3 like this’n made my 1. Saved it thru foreclosure so lost the other 2 – 4 prts vehicles. This 1 is worth $4327.77 as that’s what it just went for. I’d agree tho, some are W A Y over priced.
The price of some of this stuff has gone crazy I only wish my salary was doing the same thing
