Vacation time will be here before you know it, and while most families will be traveling by a modern SUV this summer, some lucky kids will be able to tell their friends that their very cool dad scored this vintage wagon to transport them to their destination. The seller says this one drives like a dream, and he’s confident enough in its reliability to believe it’s capable of commuting anywhere. This 1970 Chevrolet Kingswood is in Wellford, South Carolina, and can be found here on eBay, with the opening bid of $12,000 yet to be placed. However, immediate gratification is also a possibility, as it can be yours right now for the buy-it-now price of $24,500.

The seller describes this wagon as a solid example, states that it’s never had any rust, and reports that there’s only been one repaint in the past, which has held up very well. Just about all of the sheet metal appears to remain in excellent condition, with the front bumper perhaps the worst exterior area, as it seems to have a couple of small bruises. However, these are very minor, and I’m not spotting anything outside that would make me consider taking any action whatsoever. The power tailgate is reported as still functional, and it’s a plus that this one’s also got a roof rack, so there’ll be room for plenty of suitcases and extra cargo.

The owner apologizes that his wagon doesn’t have a third row, but that’s really the only negative inside that I could spot. All of the interior is claimed to be original, with the front seat reportedly having had some recent repairs, though the work is said to be pretty much undetectable. The mileage is listed as 86,687, so with this much use and decades behind it, the cabin’s condition seems to confirm that this Chevy has been well cared for over the years. Once warmer weather arrives, the passengers will appreciate the A/C, which the seller says will run you out of the wagon!

Power is provided by a 400 small block V8 attached to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, with everything under the hood still in good order after all this time. A second possibility thrown out by the seller sounds like a great idea: use this wagon as a tow vehicle to pull your muscle car or street rod to shows on the weekends. It seems there are far more positives than negatives here, and I feel the right buyer will be very happy with this one. What do you think?

Very nice clean wagon here
Growing up we had a Chevy Kingswood estate Wagon. It was our first car with power steering and brakes. It was red with that fake wood on the body I think it was just stickers from GM. It had a 350 4bbl and automatic
cool car.
Great looking wagon. As good as the ’69 was the ’70 is a handsome car, too. A two seat wagon is the perfect golf car. Are ’69 and ’70 the only years that Astro Ventilation was combined with air conditioning?
Google says ’68-’70 Chevrolets & other models. It worked with a/c cars.
Love It!
When was the last time any of us saw one of these? Nice color combo in & out,
like the wheel covers, a/c supposedly works according to comments.
I don’t know if $20k is maybe a little high but they’re not seen often in this shape. GLWS.
If doing any towing, Google Cargo Coils will be needed. The back end is already sagging. Install wider steel wheels so that you still can use the factory wheel covers. Upgrade the shocks and rear springs and you have a very cool hauler.
If I recall, most wagons from that time period included Special front & rear suspension (F40) as standard equipment, & wagons ALWAYS came w/wider wheels from the factory [in 1970 wagon wheels measured 6″].
That’s Moog cargo coils. Damn spell check.
I like old four door wagons in nice condition with everything still working and more than presentable; and yet, this one just doesn’t excite me, somehow.
SO!!! Much better than an SUV or CUV.
I was the designated driver for my family at the time and the wagon was a Big Beautiful Buick Electra 225, the very same white, roof rack, blue interior and three seat 455 big block. It was a very real true tank. I absolutely loved it. I quite literally owned the road. Looking back I’m amazed by the fact that I didn’t have any accidents. Wow what a moment in time…

I like these chevy wagons owned three of them, the low mileage is because that 400 is very thirsty, I bought a 68 as a project tow vehicle and In between I bought a 2001 suburban, no way this wagon can out perform a suburban as a tow vehicle, that said, never finished the wagon, sold it.
The Suburban’s height cuts down a lot of wind drag over the wagon, but if you used both of them equally as a tow vehicle the Suburban has overdrive and would get double the MPG however that fragile trans in the Suburban will burn up quickly doing a lot of towing where the wagon’s Turbo 400 will hold together. Shame the wagon don’t have the 454 in it, for that money a 454 would make it more worth it. Does it mention if it’s a 2 or 4 barrel carb on it?
My Dad had a 69 Caprice wagon white w/woodgrain on the sides and was well optioned and cool as hell. Bucket seats/console, Hide-A-Way headlights and a 427, it was cool looking and as fast as most muscle cars when towing the 25 ft camper. I remember him strapping those big goofy looking mirrors on the front fenders and trying to adjust them before leaving on vacation. I really miss those days, that wagon, and my Dad. If I ever found another 69 equipped like it I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
The 400 small block was only available with a 2 barrel carb, rated at 265 hp (gross).
A/C is fakakta – BIG expense !
sweet wagon and super clean. 400s/b is a real torque monster and could be a 4bolt main. i have 1 in a 70 chevell4dr and will fry the tires. if i could i would offer 20k but the seller’s price is in line. you most likely not find another
AC! 400CID. S all good, man
