We have featured some really rusty 356s over the years, but this one is different because it actually runs! That doesn’t mean you can just jump in it and drive around though. It still needs a full restoration, but it would be fun to try to make it driveable before tearing it all apart. Ratty Beetles are popular these days, so why not 356s? Forget “outlaws”, we could call them “rat tubs” or “bathtub beaters” or something catchy like that. Could we be on to a new and upcoming trend here? The car is located in Stanley, New York and is listed here on eBay with the auction ending tomorrow.

Rusty But Running: 1963 Porsche 356
Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.
First auction (with non paying bidder) went up to 19K. Wonder what it will bring this time?
What about rough RUF’s?
Really lousy pictures.
If you crushed it down to a small cube you’d find it takes up less storage space in your garage, and you could still say that you own a 356.
….and get a ton of money for the cube also!!
The last buyer probably won the auction, pulled up the pics to show his wife what he just won for $19,000 and then after seeing her reaction, probably said, “Oh, Honey, it’s ok, I was just joking!… I would not buy that old rusty car!”
You’re probably right.
This is the kind of car, if you had the choice, you would keep your wife instead.
ANY wife….nagging and all….
HA-HA Horse! You should have met either of my two ex wives. I’d have traded them in on the Swiss cheese Porsche in a heartbeat…
Reminds me of the old “car toons” magazine, was one comic where the main characters had a rusty crusty 356 and when it was hit by an elderly driver she write them a large check. This was obviously before the P car bubble.
Any other readers remember that mag?
Mountain, I remember Car Toons, but my favorite was Hot Rod Cartoons with “Pappy” and the little Mexican Dude. I disremember his name. Ah, the good ol’ sixties…
19 000 the first time through and only 9 000 the second? Something fishy there.
Just noticed in the listing:
Seller is pretty stingy.
He is seriously saving on ‘s’ and punctuation marks.
Originally he had TWO listed for $20k
Nice catch.
