With the month of May comes the start of wedding season, and many of us are soon to discover that “Save the Date” cards are populating our assorted mailboxes. On the other hand, it’s rare to mark the calendar so you know that it’s time to buy a car, but that’s what the seller of this ’69 Skylark is asking potential buyers to do, as it “will only be available to view & purchase June 4th-10th.” If you’ve been waiting a long time to buy a Buick convertible, what’s another month? Barn Finds reader Mike F. spotted this Skylark on craigslist in Littleton, Colorado, with an asking price of $19,500.
The advertisement seems to be an interesting combination of newer and older photographs, and indeed the seller boasts of the car’s roadability across the span of a decade: It made the trip “from Denver to Houston about 10 years ago” and “from Houston back to Denver in September 2024 without hesitation.” The powertrain is the Buick 350 small block with a four-barrel carburetor and 10.25 compression ratio. Only available in the Skylark Custom (and GS 350), it produced 280 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque. The 350 was an undersquare small block with a 3.80″ bore and 3.85″ stroke, necessitated by the small block’s narrow bore centers (a product of its origins, the 215-cubic-inch aluminum V8). This convertible also has the Turbo 350 automatic, which was also available only in the Custom and GS. The seller says that it leaks when parked, and wonders if it might be the pan gasket. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the buyer.
The selection of photographs is a bit perplexing. There is one picture of the undercarriage from the rear that doesn’t show much, none of the interior, and a few candid shots such as this one, which shows some minor flaws in the paint (at least on the passenger quarter panel). Perhaps the seller will add those interior images as June approaches.
The classic car buying public can be fickle, and I hope that the stipulations mentioned in the advertisement don’t keep this seemingly clean Buick from finding a buyer. Any Buick already occupies a comparatively narrow niche in the market, and the styling of their ’68 and ’69 intermediates is, from what I’ve observed over the years, something of a love-it-or-hate-it affair. Still, $19,500 for a GM intermediate convertible from one of GM’s peak eras doesn’t seem too far out of line. Maybe someone will save the date after all, and may it be a happy marriage.

Has the makings of a very cheerful cruiser. Great numbers, especially torque from the 350. Thanks Toth. 🍻
19.5k is not bad. The only thing, the 68 & 69 Skylarks, affectionately known as step-children by Buick enthusiasts, don’t have the following of the later 70-72. Still though, it looks to be a pretty clean car. Too bad the seller did not move a few feet forward when taking pics of the undercarriage and get a pic of the floors. Other than that, I can’t fault too much with the car except for someone who got a bit carried away during a repaint and decided to spray the cowl red. If I were the seller, I would search out the culprit of the trans leak and get that fixed.
70 on were more GENERIC!!
Good price for a convertible, even with the debatable 68-9 style.
That 350 will get up pretty good, especially on the highway, probably good cruising gearing. If the interior is good it will sell quickly
I don’t know about you, but “this car will be available for sale from June 4th to June 10th only, no exceptions, have your finances ready” has a faint whiff of scam to me. And for what they are expecting, the pictures could be a lot better.
I don’t think there’s a better color combo!
COPY terry, , we live less than 10mles in Prker from This I think swell Buick; I will go see it If can actually FIND IT
Yes, too bad about the ‘few’ pictures. The rear bumper is slightly pushed in, dented and off a bit on the right quarter. Other than that, this vehicle looks very promising. I might add air conditioning; but likely just tough out the heat
YEAH it really needs AIR!
I prefer the style of these sixties Skylarks better. The later ones looked too much like Pontiacs and lost what made them special, no pun intended.
Gosh FOX which vehicle are we talking about?
My interest is the Buick convertible
Thanks
Very nice clean Buick. Just needs interior pictures!
seller sounds like clown. either you want to sell or you don’t. then put stipulations on when it can be bought. give me a break
