Seller Submission: 1962 Mini Pickup

1962 Mini Pickup

I’ve always been a fan of the Mini, they are an absolute hoot to drive. Whether BMC even realized what a huge success they were going to be when the first Mini was introduced, but it didn’t take them long to capitalize on all the interest for these basic and fun little cars. They ended up building well over 5 million before production ended. In an attempt to capture even more markets they introduced a number of variations, from a woody wagon to a pickup. The pickup and van variants are relatively rare, making this ’62 Mini pickup quite the find! They built less than 60k of these trucks between ’61 to ’82. Reader Andrew C found it hiding under a tarp. He uncovered it, cleaned it a bit and had it towed home to Devon, England. He’s decided it’s just too big a project for him to undertake right now, but being an early example, he wants to see it be saved. So he listed it here on GumTree with a £2,500 asking price. It’s pretty rough, but think how much fun it would be to make a Cooper S Pickup!

Special thanks to Andrew for sharing his find with us! Hopefully someone will save this Mini. If you have a barn, field or garage find for sale and would like to see it featured on Barn Finds, be sure to let us know about it! Learn more about submitting your finds here.

Why not just make your own from scratch?

You’re going to end up doing just that if you start with this shell. I’m surprised it made it to Devon without collapsing.

Turned to total junk by sitting in its own humidity chamber all those years – AKA = tarp.

Another rust free example. i.e, the rust is free. Just pay for what’s left. You wouldn’t want to park it outside on a windy day.
