Seller Submission: Cheap TR7 Yard Find

80 TR7 rght frnt

From Bob L. – Hi, We are clearing up an estate which includes a “yard find”  1980 TR7 roadster.  It was moved outdoors 5 years ago running and driving and honestly still does not look too bad.  No nasty stuff, one minor ding in left rear fender, tolerable interior, tires are up,  battery dead and we have not looked under it yet. We have not tried to run it but it was driven to it’s current location. There’s a good chance the 28,000 miles is actual but no guarantee at this price. We have an asking price of $2,495, but will consider any fair offer. Widow wants it out of her yard before snow fall, and the leaves are already falling. It’s listed here on our site. Thanks for your help!

Triumph thought they were building the sports car of the future when they started development of the TR7. It never really caught on though and many Triumph guys don’t consider it a “real” Triumph today. They weren’t all bad though and it just means that cars like this can be picked up for a song.

The convertible top does make this one more desirable and it actually doesn’t look too bad considering the fact that it has been sitting outside. Parts supply for these cars isn’t as good as their older TR brethren, so the fact that this one looks complete is a plus. There always seem to be a few around getting parted out though so I’m sure you could find any of the missing bits.

As long as the rust isn’t too bad, this could be cheap way to get into British car ownership. Find your local British car club and I bet there will be a few guys willing to offer advice. I’ve found that many of these guys are pretty down to earth and happy to help a fellow enthusiast. If any of you end up dragging it home up please let us know too!

Key word in this add is “offer”. Widow wants it out of the yard asap. Call for an appointment to see it or make offer 330-453-8900 days.

Thanks great info. Very possible it is a 5-speed since we have not driven it.

Also appears not to be a California spec car. according to other folks.

Hmmmm, about 50 miles from me. Bring a vac to clean out those leaves.
Scuttle area under battery, cowl under wipers, floors (trailing arm brackets) behind seats, both wells in trunk, just to name a few spots to check, Dash looks good in pict’s, seem to remember head gasket issues, studs?
Always liked these, came close a couple of times, re- paint is a plus, wonder if the head lights still operate, lol. Good luck getting the right height tires for anything w/13″ rims.
Ya, not much room at the inn right now, but I’m thinking if I push the Spit back a little farther and get the spider at an angle,,,,! Now if this were a “Staaggg”,,, done deal!
