Sporting super-awesome side pipes, raised white letter tires, and $35 steel wheels, this Riverside Gold? 1969 Corvette seeks a new owner via a seven-word listing here on Boston, Massachusetts craigslist. Only a modest investment of $5000 plus an unfathomable amount of additional money and personal effort separate you from a joyous cruise in this quintessential American two-seater. Thanks to AMX Brian for spotting this New England classic.
This is a 20th-century sale all the way. Nothing says “my time is more important than yours” like posting seven words and three pictures to gain $5000. Seven words might be fine for listings like “Assorted concrete blocks. Pick them up. Free.” At least the seven words, “Nice car to restore engine turns over,” tell us the car’s engine is not seized. With that, your options are A. Pay for what you see here or B. Call the lonely seller. I’d go $800 on that information all day long. For $900 or more, though, I’ll move along.
The title lists this as a 350 HP 350 cid V8, the L46, cheapest of several upgrades beyond the stock 300 HP (thanks to gmheritagecenter.com for some details). The side pipes might be original, and interestingly 1969 is the only year for factory side pipes on C3 Corvette. Are you ready to trade $5000 for this specimen of America’s Sports Car?

$5000 is a cheap enough price for seven words…if it was not a daily driver in Bahstan in the winter. Could be serious rust. I do like the “trunk”…altho it doesn’t look like it closes tight. :-O
Practically up the street (and about 50 miles south of Boston) but just on that left rear 1/4 alone I’m out!
The qtr is the least of ones worries๐
Hello photographer please post pics of frame as it is up in the air. One needs to see the underneath of seat area and rear dog legs.
That rear quarter needs to be fiberglassed back in as itโs a replaceable area and available now.
This is a FOUR Speed unit! ๐๐๐
Why hasn’t anyone commented about the crappy gold color like the “84 C4 the other day?
I would drop $10 or $12 on the gold “84 C4…drive and enjoy…pass on this C3…no offense to C3 lovers.
Likely a scam ad with someone else’s pictures.
Except there is a second ad from the same seller for a black corvette in even worse shape
i think the seller speaks ‘flipperease’ a dialect of english. although it is not a dying dialect it suffers from a certain inability to convey crucial information.
This is the best strategy possible to get a car out of your neighbor’s woods.
This poor thing looks very tired
Yep
The chrome wheels would look more appropriate on a truck.
…or a ’70’s van… or boat trailer.
I’ve got a boat trailer with these very same wheels. Cheapest ones they had.
@Todd Fitch – “Assorted concrete blocks…” I can’t quit laughing. It’s as though I wrote it. Beautifully encapsulates the mentality of those classless vendors. Can’t give you a thumbs up… too bad.
also, the chrome gill treatment is 1969 only as well…
At one time, that was a sweet car. My friend’s father had one identically equipped that he bought new at my friend’s insistence. The father was the assistant to Arizona Congressman John Rhodes. Within one year, he traded it for a 1970 Monte Carlo! He claimed there was no place for his golf clubs!!!
Some people are Corvette people… most people aren’t. They just don’t get it.
Thanks, TriPowerVette. This Corvette, and so many other cars, deserves a better listing. I hate seeing classic cars written up as if they were old cake pans. Flippers don’t *want* to know the car’s story, and so whatever cool background it may have dies with them. I appreciate your comments as always. -Todd
@Todd Fitch – You, sir, are still the voice of reason.
As someone who currently owns a ’69 Riverside Gold, that is NOT the color depicited in the photo. The odds of it being a factory sidepipe car are also low.
Very rough, but for someone who is local maybe worth a call.
Close look at the CL ad and the rear picture, you can see the rear exhaust plug falling out. Not an original side pipe car, definitely the GM 69 side pipes though. So unless the frame is good and the engine is the ORIGINAL one (not matching numbers) this car is probably best as a parts car. Front clips are hard to come by and this one looks decent. Most other parts get you to the 5K cost but plan on lots of disassembly work. I’ll pass.
Are those ’69 seats ?
@Craig M Bryda – Nope. I used ’73’s in my ’69. Those are they.
I bought a 68 coupe lots a years ago and sold it during the gas crunch Carter years. 4 speed with if remember correctly and 350 hp. 327 and with side pipes and all this time I thought they were factory. Last time I went over 120 on a public road. Sold it the following day.
The asking price tells you all you need to know about the condition of the frame / birdcage.
