Shed Find: 1984 Nissan 720 4×4

Shed, garage, barn, anywhere that a vehicle is stored for years and comes out looking good is ok by me. This shed find 1984 Nissan 720 4×4 is in Lincolnton, North Carolina and it’s listed on eBay with a $6,900 buy it now price. The seller believes that the 49,144 miles shown are accurate.

Ok, this side doesn’t look quite as nice as the other side did. The seller says that this “truck was sitting underneath an old shed with a blown head gasket when the original owner passed away. It sat underneath that shed for the next 15-YEARS until I found it! My mechanic put a new head gasket on it and she fired right up!” You can see the rust but hopefully it’s mainly surface rust. They added a couple of underside photos and it looks great under there.

The seller says that “This is not a rust-bucket, mudding truck that has been beat to death in the woods! No bondo. No cancerous rust. No rhino lining. No plasti dip. No rattle-can paint job. I have left it all original and have not touched up anything! I even left the rear bumper unpainted so you could read the original dealership logo!” The bed looks good and that rust on some of the seams is unfortunate but maybe that can be treated and touched up without messing up the rest of the original paint.

The interior looks much nicer than I would ever expect a 34-year old truck interior to look. I don’t really see any flaws inside at all other than maybe a bit of fading. The headliner even looks great, I expected it to be sagging a bit from the North Carolina heat, I guess it helped to be out of the sun for so many years.

This is a “Z24 Engine with the 5-speed manual transmission so it will cruise at 70-mph all day long! All original and un-molested condition.” This one comes with a “Roadmaster Sterling All-Terrain Tow Bar with the attached tow brackets. This is the best tow bar on the market and is a quick-disconnect style that easily detaches from the front of the truck. This tow bar retails for $1,000 and the tow brackets retail for $500.” It also comes with “the original Nissan Grille-Guard / Bull-Bar and the factory installed Winch with remote control!” This looks like a heck of a truck if the rust checks out.

I can’t see how this is not a good buy. I have never seen a factory Toyota gauge package like that before which is pretty cool. The CarFax buyback guarantee appears to have expired back in 2014. If I were closer I would have to consider this one.

Just because they made a mistake, doesn’t make them a crack head, sheesh.

I had a co worker that had one of these for years and years. the darn thing was almost bullet proof.

The only reason these had tow bars, was it was shlepped behind a motorhome, and gramps could have easily disconnected the cable. ( gramps was no dummy) It looks a bit rough for 49K (and 6 digit odometer means it isn’t 149K.) I find it hard to believe, a Nissan with 49K would need a head gasket. They were much better motors than that.Towed vehicles usually have other issues, wheel bearings, driveshaft, seals, etc, but shouldn’t affect the running part. Nice truck, but something fishy here.

I had this truck and it was a horse. Pretty dependable except for that time the fuel pump relay failed on a snow clogged Maine dirt road at midnight. Ahh the memories.

I live near this truck. If it is still avail I am going to take a look at it. I too would agree that it is likely 149k. I hope they didn’t cut anything up to attach that tow bar. The add claims the tow bar and mounts are a $1,500 value. I would be inclined to tell them to keep the tow bar and offer them $5,000 for the truck.
