Located in Rutledge, Tennessee, this four wheel drive 1986 GMC Sierra pickup is for sale here on eBay with one day left in the auction. The truck was bought new by the previous owners uncle. While the truck looks good up close, the video of the car that can be seen here shows the truck has some rust problems in the doors and body panels. The truck is currently bid to $5,500.
The original 305 cubic inch V8 engine was factory rated at 165 horsepower. However, the prior owner replaced the original engine with a 350 cubic inch V8 engine that was rebuilt. The blue interior has wear on seats but is equipped with power windows, power locks and cruise control.
The body has rust behind the wheels that has rotted through and it appears there is rust along the bottom of the door. There is also a dent in the back corner of the bed that has started to rust. The seller states this is minor rust. I like the dark blue color of this truck and the chrome bumper looks good too. The clear coat paint appears to be peeling on the hood.
The Kelly tires are said to be recent additions and new dual exhaust has added. On the downside the air conditioning is not working. The seller states that the truck has been driven from Tennessee to Florida without incident and believes that it is an excellent running truck. The odometer reflects 126,000 miles.
Here’s an even better deal, a 4×4. This one a bit more tired than the 2wd one, but 4×4’s lead a tougher life. Being a southern truck, it’s always rebuildable, unlike northern 4×4’s that rusted away. Again, same thing, these southern trucks don’t have any heat risers for cold weather, a must below 40 degrees, and most assuredly where this truck will end up, up north somewhere, because, there’s a big demand for these up north, and so few that still have a cab or box. Nice( r) truck.
As I have understood Howard, the heat risers choked up with carbon and stop functioning correctly after a short time anyway.
I guess I meant warm air into the air cleaner. It’s just one of the pluses of living in a cold climate. F.I. took care of all that.
Yes. I call it the old “We with a (questionable) High School education level know a lot more than these engineers who design these things for a living”. So off comes the heat riser, closed air cleaner that works in all weather, and on goes all the aftermarket junk, because they have a vastly superior knowledge level than the engineers, lol. My favorite is the “Let’s put gauges in a vehicle that already has gauges”, butchering all the wiring in the process and many times creating an unsafe fire hazard in the process. It always amazes me to hear them insist that the $19.95 trio of gauges from China are “far more accurate” than anything the vehicle manufacturers offer. Some folks should just not be allowed to work on vehicles.
Greats trucks I love them, either hold out for a 350 or replace the 305. I had a 350 plenty of power on tap even with 200k miles, I moved on to another short bed with 87 k miles and a better body and a 305. When I got up on the highway and faced a headwind, I realized how much of a mistake the 305 was. You don’t know what you have till it’s gone
