Short Box Sweetheart? 1965 Chevrolet C-10

I don’t know about you, but I get a little leery about an ad that states “Grandpaw’s vintage…truck” or “From my understanding…” It makes me think the seller is over-zealous and trying to make things sound better than they are. Looking at the photos and description of this truck, though, it seems like a pretty good project. It is a 1965 Chevrolet C-10 short box and can be found for sale here on eBay with a current bid of $8,500. Located in Eads, Tennessee, it seems like the truck has spent its whole life in The Volunteer State. Check it out and see what you think. Is this truck decent or is the seller trying to over-sell it?

There’s nothing wrong with this interior. It looks like it hasn’t been messed with and could be used just fine as-is. Of course, the new owner could do some upgrades, but it is certainly very usable.

The engine is a straight-six mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. The ad claims the truck runs and drives okay, which hopefully means a good tune-up with a new ignition and maybe a carb rebuild will get it purring well again. The seller also says the truck has new brakes, new windshield, and new tires.

Speaking of tires, unfortunately, the hubcaps are just for photos and don’t come with the truck. These trucks have great lines and very interesting features including the rear portion of the cab and the aggressive lines down the body. I’m not sure what caused the discoloration on the door and bed? It’s a little bit unusual to see fading in these spots. Like was stated before, this truck looks pretty decent to me and would probably make a good project for someone. What do you think?

One nice thing is that you don’t have to bring a trailer!

If the hub caps don’t go with the truck then take them off before taking the pictures.

The paint “discoloration” on the pass side door & bed is probably due to a past paint touch-up, using a paint that was either poorly matched OR that faded differently than the rest of the truck.
    Not a big deal.
Nice truck. Deserves to be restored to its original basic stock glory.
Hubcaps are not difficult to find.

Our family has a history of buying Ford trucks. This short bed makes me want to flip to the other side.

A compound and wax job would do wonders for this truck. I have had every body style from 55 first series on, bit never one of these. I passed up a low mileage 65 C30 winch/ pole truck when my uncle passed, due to the extensive rust. Wouldn’t you know I came across a clean cab less than six months later that the seller was inly asking $400 for…😩

I’d clean up the engine, carbs, ignition, ets and drive it.

It’s funny that they call it “Grandpa’s” vintage truck, cause this was the kinda truck the same model and color.

Spend $10,000 to $12000 for the truck which is in need of a lot of repair but you can’t have the hub caps. Why are the hub caps on the truck? Impeach the hub caps.

I’m going to assume that’s a 230 under the hood, although 65 was the debut year for the 250.

The Owner/Seller should buy his own set of hubcaps from LMC. Don’t post pictures and then say this or that is not included in the sale. So in looking at the aftermarket stereo, ‘ol Grandpa liked to listen to some tunes.

1977 was my sophomore year in High School. My ride was a 1965 Chevy C10 with a 283 + auto short bed. Mine was maroon with white top. It was a parts hauler as well as my date night truck. Had a pretty good ride, and looked good when cleaned up.

Maroon with a white top?! That sounds like my dad’s truck and that was about the time he got rid of it. C10 Custom Faded Maroon with white top. Since he was a farmer, he had his name and the town where he lived painted on the box. I’d love to have one like it.

Fix up and drive as is. so cool. Unmistakeable sound to that stovebolt and 3 speed tranny. Good luck to the new owner!
