Source For Bad Ideas? C4 Corvette “Go-Kart”

s-l1600

This is what’s left over after you weld a few stabilizing bars into a C4 Corvette chassis and add two bucket seats! Jim S. sent this in, and it’s for sale here on eBay where bidding is at $1,000 and there’s no reserve. The potentially troublesome cross-fire injection has been replaced with a manifold and four-barrel for simplicity, and the fuel tank is now a fuel cell.

I’m just going to leave this here: the wheelbase of a C4 Corvette is 96.2 inches, and the wheelbase of my unbelievably underpowered Austin Marina race car is 96.0″. Hmmmm.

What would you do with this raw material? Tell us in the comments!

I like Gremlins–we passed a Gremlin (fur-covered!) to take second in class at our last LeMons race 😀

A rudimentary, post war style, tube body with cycle fenders. Sort of a Kurtis 500S homage.

    Easy peasy

VW Beetle body, maybe extend the front dog house, ultimate sleeper. They also make a couple C4 frames that match a 55-57 Chevy body for the ultimate shoe box auto crosser. No wait, a Super 7 style body wrapped around what’s there, now you’re talking!

Looks like it may be the castoff from Car & Driver’s experiment on how removing weight improved lap times. That was a few years ago…

Least they could have was put the rims on the right direction. The side picture, rear is correct, front is wrong
